You could not build this bass for this price with a woodshop full of tools. I've bought cheap guitars in the past and the fretboard always needs work. This neck and fretboard are flawless. You obviously need to buy better strings. I always buy DR. I got inspired by the black and white look and got DR Black Beauties and customized the bass with some Cricut vinyl. The chrome knobs that came with this bass were better quality than the replacement chrome ones I bought for my Gretsch hollow body guitar last year. I move those to it and found the black plastic ones that came with the Gretsch to put on here. I love the way this bass looks, feels, and plays. I hadn't played bass in 25 years, and now I'm playing every day. Buy this bass for practically nothing and spend your money on good strings, a great amp like my Hartke, a good cable, and a nice strap. I wouldn't recommend the full-size bass for a beginner. Get a smaller scale to learn songs and enjoy playing, then get a full-size bass. ... show more

As it says in the description just tune it and your good to go. This os my first bass guitar but I really love it and it's perfect for someone with monster paws like mine. If you have large hands you might want to consider a bass guitar for the fact of the strings are farther apart and you can actually get your fingers between the strings. As for quality of the guitar, i took it to a guirat shop to have it gone over and he said its the lightest one hes ever held. He ran through it and was kust astonishedwhen i told him it was less then $100. Honest rating: 9.5/10 Dislikes: the knobs aren't labeled, but that's an easy fix ... show more

I’ve been learning the guitar for the past three months even though I’ve picked it up over the years and backed out again so I think it has help me learn the dynamics of playing a instrument, but this time around I am going to try out my copy of Rock Smith and see if that helps me learn the base faster so far I got a score of 20% while playing the game. Also, the bass guitar is nice but I wish it also had a name on it that would’ve been nice. The texture and paint is really good. The strings deafly need to be changed out because they’re cheap but it sounds good on my app and on Rock Smith, so I am happy with the bass guitar since it’s cheap and it’s my first ... show more

There's so much to say about this bass. It's great for beginners. The fretting is great too. The neck is perfect for my sweaty hands, I can slide around without getting stuck. The tuners are sturdy and of great material. It stays in tune too!!! Although I didn't like the plastic nut, this is literally the only thing I can bikker about.
