I got this little Bass yesterday afternoon. I couldn't put down I got it in tune and just played it sitting in the recliner all night. I was actually surprised how small it really is!! The scale length is longer than Fenders electric tele/strat but the overall length is shorter than a Strat. I dont have a Les Paul, but i feel its the same size. This reminds me a SG. The fit and finish is better than the lower end offerings from Fender. The strat/pbass pack, starcaster,debut series. Yeah this little bass is a few steps above those. There was only one little bit of a fret on the thumb side that you could just barley feel when running your hand along the side of the fret board, and i mean just barley. took about 3 swipes of emory board to fix that. Um intonation was not 100%, but damn close, didnt take much adjustment at all. the fret board was flat, no adjustment needed. Some one sat this up at the factory. also the strings were slacked, so that good. The action was a bit to high for my prefrence, but still usable right out of the box. The accessories are just an extra. I dont have any use for any of it, i mean picks are ok i suppose, but medium to light so not really what you want to play the Bass with, if you feel you need a pick? Its a Bass, use your fingers, and thump it with your tumb. The fret board could use some oil. The finish is kind rough, like they didnt finish shaping the body perfect, and there is a lot of grain, obviously they didnt spend much time sanding the wood before paint, what ever, its a Bass. I do have to say that this red is the color this Bass should be!! Its like a flat fire engine red. I almost got the natural wood so i could finish it how ever i want. But that red is perfect for it. This little bass is so awesome. I got it becuase i dont have a bass, and my 6 year old says she want to play the bass so win win!! Mine says Glarry on the head stock oh man it also has a wonderful feather joint at the head stock. this reminds me of an Iceman mixed with an SG if your on the fence about this wonderful little bass, just buy it!! This would also look amazing in a royal or grape purple with the same matte finish

I got the yellow color of this bass guitar and it looks nice and sounds good, tone is great clear without noise. Personally I bought this guitar, coz I need lighter one for travel and to record my own composition as a hobby while on board the ship, coz I'm a seaman right now. Then I made a record out of this bass to complete the track of my song and the mixing result was excellent, the quality sound is like no difference to a standard size bass guitar. And I'm very happy with the result, now I'm enjoying listening my recorded song composition after finished recording coverted to Mp3 file. This cheaper price is a money saver with quality tone, lighter weight easy to carry, short scale but 24 fret full scale which I most like, and a very comfotable, much easier than stanbard bass guitar to dribble your finger along the fret board, coz its like the size length of an electric guitar, I would recommend this to buy!

I've been playing this bass for just two weeks at an acoustic jam (gotta have a bass so electrics are allowed). It sounds great and since we all sit close together in a circle, we appreciate that the neck is shorter than a banjo. The quality is very good, the neck was straight and feels good, the frets are finished nicely, the balance is good when sitting down without a strap (but better with the strap). But I have three issues with it. 1. I prefer to have the strings on my guitars as close to the frets as possible, and right out of the box the strings were pretty high. It isn't a big problem for adults, but kids might have some trouble with it. The fix was to remove the nut, which is pretty easy to do, and sand the bottom until the strings clear the first fret by a little less than 1/16". The playability is now much improved. 2. The intonation needed to be adjusted. This is very easy with a phillips screwdriver. The G string was fine, but the other three strings needed to be moved down. The E string needed to move 1/4" and the other two progressively less. (they provide tools to adjust the string heights at the bridge and to straighten the neck if you need to, but mine didn't.) 3. Predictably, the bag that came with it is minimal - just a nylon bag with no padding. But the worst part is that it fits so tight a the head end that it almost to zip up because the tuners stick out quite a ways. None of those three items are deal breakers though, and all but #3 are easy to fix. I haven't found a replacement bag yet that is small enough, but big enough to fit properly. Bottom line, it is a very fine instrument (worth more than it cost), especially for people with smaller hands or don't want something with a scale length longer than a standard guitar, which was my reason.

I purchased this childs/beginners bass specifically for camping. It's hilariously bad, but it's perfect for what I want. And I know how to fix most of the problems to make it work correctly. I'm currently thinking of this more like a kit than a finished instrument. * The body of the instrument has a *very* thin layer of color and no lacquer or varnish, and there are a lot of cross-grain scratches which can't be fixed without removing the dye. The scratches are the only non-repairable flaw. There is also "fuzz" from routing the edges of the instrument. I used fine sandpaper to knock off the rough spots -- it removed some of the layer of color giving it a "weathered look" -- then sprayed on a couple coats of matte varnish. * None of the chambers in the body have any shielding, which can be fixed with copper tape. Easy, just time-consuming. Don't forget to add a grounding wire for the shielding. * Setup - every single adjustment was wrong, but easy to fix, and most of the tools needed are included: The nut height was wildly high... so high that low F would go sharp when fretted. This needs to be filed with a tiny, round "Swiss File," or work carefully with sandpaper. The truss rod was so tight it had the neck in a back-bow, causing huge amounts of string buzzing. Saddle heights were too low. Intonation was random, but at least the bridge is in the right place and can be adjusted. The pickups were sunk much too far into the body (like, 10 mm from the strings! Should be 3mm!) The narrow piece of foam wouldn't push them out when I tried to adjust the height. The included gig bag is a single layer of nylon, with no padding. I had low expectations for the gig bag and they were met. On a positive note, the tuners are surprisingly smooth, with a light touch from the 22:1 gear ratio. Nota bene: scale length is 25.5". This isn't mentioned in the description, and you need to know this if you plan to replace the strings at any time.

For the price this is a great deal, if you are willing and have the skill to additional work into this guitar. The fret ends on my bass were not dressed at all and were sharp enough to cut your fingers. I had to file and polish the frets. I didn’t find any high frets and the setup/playability was good. The tuners were functional but sloppy, it will not hold tune for long. Long term I will be putting better tuners on. The description said that the body wood was mahogany. In my opinion it is ash. The neck is smooth and feels good in my hand. It has a good bass sound, but the single coil pickups will have some hum, that’s just the way they all are. Shin I get finished with the upgrades on this bass it will be a great travel instrument. For the price it can’t be beat.

My husband is a professional bassist and I'm a pianist. We set out to find a short scale bass that our daughter could use to learn the bass. The bass guitars we own are way too big for her to be comfortable with as she's still a young child. After reading tons of reviews and watching so many videos, we decided to try this one. So we ordered it, albeit with some trepidation. We received it yesterday and my husband is surprised that it is actually better than he thought it would be. It does need a professional setup to make it true tonality wise, but he can do that himself. However, one could actually begin learning on this instrument even without that. One of the frets does have a sharp edge, also something that is easily taken care of. He plugged it into his Fender Bassman 800-watt amp and he was happy with the sound he got with this micro bass. We chose the natural finish because I am thinking of adding a dark blue cosmic vinyl skin to make it into a very nice bass for our daughter to use for learning & studying the bass guitar. Overall, my husband and I think that it was worth what we paid for it. The adjustments are not a deal-breaker as he likes the challenge. And this is a real instrument! There are several well-known artists who use a short scale bass due to the difference in sound as compared to a standard bass guitar. So we're keeping this one and hope that it will become a part of our musical family.

pretty decent little instrument. not a toy. after doing a setup: string height, intonation. no need to adjust truss rod. strings are decent roundwounds. all pots work fine. pickups are clear, not muddy. fun little thing. my travel bass. scale is 25.5, string length to G or A tuners 31.5 so short scale strings will work. great buy.

First of all, the instrument I received was branded Glarry which doesn't surprise me since I know the make one exactly like this. Out of the box, it was better than expected but will still need a good setup which I can do myself. The biggest surprise is that the body was unfinished! Bare wood! It still needs sanding in some spots. I ordered the natural finish but was still expecting a glossy coat. This is actually fine with me because now I can give hit it with some Tru-oil and give it the finish I really want. Fretboard is very dry. Electronics work. For the money I can't really complain. The size is perfect for a child but I actually got this for me because of the size. I have several other full size basses but wanted this just to have fun with. Update December 2023: I really do like this bass. I thought I'd make some upgrades to make it better. Tried changing the pickups but these are slightly smaller than standard Jazz Bass pickups and since I don't want route the body I stuck with the stock pickups but changed the wiring and pots. These stock pickups are actually heftier and better built that the replacements I bought. I changed the tuners with a set that would allow me to use better strings. The strings that came with it were not that good but were tapered properly to his scale. On any other string set the E string is to fat to fit the stock tuner. I found a set that let me install a set of LaBella low tension flats. Even the strings were short scale, the fat part of the string still had to go into the tuners. Worked okay on the low E but surprisingly the A string snapped. Got lucky and had enough to try again. So now I've got this Baby Bass with flat wounds on it and I love it! Update August 2024 - FYI Gold Tone Micro Bass strings are the perfect size for this bass. String wrap at the end is the perfect length. I put on a set of their flatwound strings and they are awesome. The Baby Bass sounds even better now.
