  • Did I need it, NO, Did I want it, YES. So Very worth It! Did I need it, NO, Did I want it, YES. So Very worth It!
Style: VOLCASAMPLE2
Ok, here’s my deal. I’m a long time retired Recording Engineer, Recording Studio Owner, Drummer, Synth Owner and Programmer since 1972. After being away from it for so many years, I recently decided to build a nice small Music/Sound Production Workstation Studio in our home’s Music Room. I began this in January 2022 starting out small but it has really grown over the past 18 months. OK, for me Synthesizers are an addiction, especially now, that so many lower cost, quality options are available like never before. I already own the Korg Volca FM 2, mainly because of it’s Yamaha DX7 Heritage and the ability to not only download and install all of the Original DX7 sounds but also the slew of other available presets and it’’s small form factor. I’ve been looking at the Volca Samples for a while and when I saw that the Volca Sample now had version 2 with a USB Interface and complimentary Sample Librarian to let me manage the samples and patterns loaded on the Volca Sample2 I was intrigued. Did I need one, NO, did I want one, well yes, so it was an impulse purchase. Was it worth it YES! Very simply stated, it’s just a fun machine, full of features, quality sounds and a blast to program and just play with. The overall build quality and sound on all of the Korg Volcas is decent, especially for the low cost, (I’m not carrying it around all over the place, it just sits nicely on a stand on my workstation). There’s just so much this little Sample Box/Sequencer can do. It’s fairly straightforward to program and if you need some help there are a few very good Videos out there on YouTube. It’s a great addition to my “Synth Arsenal” ... show more

  • Amazing!
Style: VOLCASAMPLE2
a super fun nicely compact sampler synth, that hits way way out of its price range! software from korg is klunky but the sample makes up for it 10 fold. the only thing that i can imagine to make it better (besides real software) would be a way to scale one sample on the keyboard like the casio sk-1s. ... show more

  • Another great Korg volca
Style: VOLCASAMPLE2
This little, affordable sample box is GREAT. I’m a newbie to the synth world, and have 5 other volcas, the beats, keys, bass, drum & FM. There is a bit of a learning curve on these, however once you learn the layout of these little devices, you’ll really love the sounds you can produce and the many options and features they all provide. I saw a couple reviews with people crying about the lights or the buttons/knobs being too small. The lights aren’t too bright and will not blind you, and yeah the controls are small, but unless you’re some freak with mallets for hands, everything is easy to use. Seriously. If you’re on the fence, go watch some of the many videos on YouTube about the sample and some of the other volcas in the line. The price is also right, so that’s obviously awesome. Korg volcas have been a great intro to synths for me, and I will continue to buy them if they continue to put out cool new ones. Seriously, pay no mind to the negative reviews. ... show more

  • Prepare yourself to buy an OTG usb cable
Style: VOLCASAMPLE2
I don't give a 5 star recognition to the korg volca sample 2 (it deserve it) because it has several problems loading the samples to it. I tried many usb cables (the korg has a micro B usb interface) to connect to the Pc so you can load your samples library. The pc recognizes the volca but the software wont. I had to buy a cable usb type C to micro b usb so you can load them with your cellphone (mine is android) using the caustic app (available for IOs & android) ... show more

  • Outstanding.
Style: VOLCASAMPLE2
Pleased with the purchase. Korg provides excellent companion software and legacy versions that worked perfect on my old Mac on their website. I cleared out the built in samples and loaded custom ones from Goldbaby and some of my own creation. I found that clearing the built in sample library was my key to success in loading my own stuff. Thankfully the software automatically downsamples anything you drop in it to be compatible with the Korg format. I’ve owned the IK multimedia Uno drum, Elektron model Cycles, Volca beats, and Arturia drum brute and this is easily my favorite now that I have the sounds I want on it. Korg also throws in a software bundle download card and includes batteries. Excellent little banger for the money. Utility and ease of use are excellent and perfect for my needs. I can throw this in my gig bag and connect to my bass amp for some beats when jamming with friends and I will get a lot more use out of it then any of the other I’ve owned. ... show more

  • Doesn't connect to Windows.
Style: VOLCASAMPLE2
Doesn't connect to Windows. It's great in all other respects, and affordable. But... the whole point of the thing is the ability to upload samples. If it can't connect to the most popular OS on the planet, it's kind of useless. There's no FAQ, support, or anything for it. There's a couple of posts in their forums with help from other users but that's about it. No help from Korg themselves. It's just silly. Looking for to the Volca Sample 3 when they finally introduce a SD card like they should have in the first place. ... show more

  • A really fun and creative device A really fun and creative device
Style: VOLCASAMPLE2
This thing just looks and feels so good. I love how small it is and that it's battery powered. It's obviously not super feature rich and you can't easily or quickly play chromatically (play individual notes). It's by no means a DAW replacement, but you can probably make some awesome sounding things on it if you take the time. I like it because it forces me to be more creative to make good sounding music. Don't let anyone gatekeep you from making music (I'm saying this for others, but also myself). ... show more
