Description

Since it was founded in 1963, Korg's goal has been to create new experiences in music and performance. That was what drove the creation of Japan's first disc-based rhythm machine, the Doncamatic, and then led to the development of Japan’s first synthesizer and the world's first needle-type tuner, followed by numerous unique instruments that have brought the enjoyment of musical performance to many people all around the world. The microKORG2, evolving from the microKORG legacy, introduces a looper, vocal processor, full-color display, new sounds, and USB to its renowned polyphonic analog modeling, offering musicians a compact, visually intuitive synthesizer/vocoder with expressive vocals, real-time performance features, and modern design. Meet the Liano With its great selection of piano sounds, integrated and powerful speakers, great feeling keybed, and its slim and compact design, Liano is the ideal way to bring endless musical fun to your life. Basic but complex beginner beauty
Style: NTS1
Absolutely amazing beginner synth! Super easy to assemble and there are a ton of you tube vids to help you learn to use it. A surprisingly deep synth for it's simplicity and price. Playing with it will teach you the basics of synthesis without breaking the bank. And the best part about it is that after you're done with it as a learner and moved on to more expensive and complex synths it can still be used as an excellent effects unit with stackable effects! If you're on a budget and looking to get into synthesis look no further. Excelsior! ... show more

Awesome capabilities, HARD to control with MIDI
Style: NTS1
This is basically the "heart" of a very good synth -- just without any limbs or a brain. By the "heart" part, I mean this has a great range of sounds and effects, as well as a nice on-board sequencer. The sound is awesome. The price on this one is worth it for that alone. But by the "brain" part, I mean that you're gonna have to just write down or remember your settings to get that awesome range of sounds. No save function on individual settings that I'm seeing. However, with a small download from Korg, you can load other oscillator designs. And by the part about "limbs," I mean that the only way to control this "out-of-the-box" is an incredibly limited ribbon interface. Ordinarily, that would be fine. However, if you want options for a better controller, you'll have to use a digital audio workstation (which means you'll have to connect it to a laptop and car that around)... ...OR you can connect it to a physical MIDI keyboard controller. This part is kind of a nightmare. You can't control it with a MIDI device that connects through USB. You have to use an older 5-pin connected device AND ALSO find an adaptor to convert that 5-pin to the synth's oddball type of MIDI connection. There are YouTube videos that can help you with that. Just be prepared to really research it and then find a good MIDI controller that will work with this (I got one from Arturia). Anyway, bottom line is it sounds super cool. But to unlock all those supercool sounds and really use it as a viable instrument, be prepared to do some work. ... show more

Amazing Little Monosynth
Style: NTS1
After a short and rather simple build you have a pretty solid feeling little synth. The tiny onboard speaker lets you play around right out of the box (even if you don’t have headphones or something bigger to plug in to). This tiny little tool has some amazing capabilities for creating big sounds, definitely worth the price! With so many ways to change the tone, I’ll be having fun with this for a long time finding all kinds of new sounds. The little ribbon keyboard allows you to try out your sounds, but is not a realistic way to play any sort of music. You are going to want to connect this to a midi controller. I have only had this tool for a short time, but from playing around with it I would point out that this is a monosynth and will only play one note at a time. Do not expect to be playing chords with this, but if you’re looking to create some unique timbres and play some great lead melodies this is an excellent way to go. ... show more

High quality, fun to play around with
Style: NTS1
High quality parts, easy to assemble. The more recent version looks a little nicer, since playing directly on the ribbon keyboard of this is a little awkward and the new version seems to be more featureful. This is a cool mini accessory though that is fun to play around with

Incredible ambient reverb and upgradable, recommendations and tips below
Style: NTS1
The effects sound amazing and the mono synth engine exceeded my expectations. You can unlock a ton more power if you visit nutekt.org. IMPORTANT TIP: code compiled for the more powerful Prologue and Minilogue XD work perfectly on the NTS-1 too! If you are using Prologue code, keep at least one effect turned-off or you will overwhelm the CPU and get stutters. The device has memory for lots of oscillators and effects. Essential free upgrades: Cathedral reverb (hammondeggsmusic), Volca Bass oscillator (tweeeeeak!) adds 3 oscillators and three sequencer memories, Prob B oscillator (tweeeeeak!) adds a sequencer with probabilities, 808 Bass oscillator (hypercubed) sounds great, and all of the ports of Mutable Instrument code (Peter Allwin). There is so much more, but I've gotten a lot of use from the above add-ons in the two days I've owned my NTS-1. I suggest donating to support the work of these amazing coders who are giving us so much value. Watch YouTube videos to understand how to upgrade and use these. If you are reading this and haven't bought this thing, what are you waiting for? The effects alone are easily worth the price. ... show more

Incredible little synth for the money
Style: NTS1
This is basically a Korg Monologue in a Monotron-sized package. Terrific stock waveforms and effects, but there’s also a whole community of people creating custom ones that you can download and add. Decent UI for programming — all the main parameters are a button press away. Loses a star, though, because you can ONLY power it over USB. Give me a battery option, guys. But otherwise — delightful. ... show more

Nice little synth with surprisingly good sound.
Style: NTS1
Easy to assemble and has a great range of sounds. Keyboard is tricky to play, but also fun to mess with. Great little piece of kit, I've been using it with my 1010 Blackbox sampler and its a match made in heaven... easy to carry and you can sketch out and lay down the bones of a track pretty much anywhere, anytime... which might just get me fired from my day job... :) ... show more

The most synth packed into the smallest package
Style: NTS1
This thing sounds HUGE when you plug it into a good interface and speakers. It's a full size synth in a tiny box. It also has a lot of DIY appeal since you have to build it and you can also install more user made and custom oscillators but out of the box it's already quite capable. It also works great as a multi effects unit on any other audio. I don't like the ribbon keyboard, you'll obviously want a midi adapter and keyboard if you want to play something proper, but the ARP does a lot of the heavy lifting when you just want to mess around and play sounds. Great for beginner musicians who are dying to get a synth, don't be fooled by its size and price, it's AMAZING. ... show more
