  • Amazing value 💯💥🤑
Very satisfied with this monitor, for the price I got it at ($210). It has very competitive picture quality at this price point and goes beyond with its much denser form factor, leading to uncompromised clarity at most viewing distances. I still think games today are meant to be played at 4K for the intended experience, but if you mainly play competitive games like Fortnite, you will really appreciate this monitor. The color is also fantastic, and to my eye, it is definitely close to a wide color gamut, specifically in the reds, which are more saturated than typical monitors at this price point. The brightness is nearing 400 nits, but I don't think it quite hits it. Regardless, it's bright enough for me. The contrast isn't great and is typical of most IPS monitors. I'd say it's in the low 900s, so it's not great for dark content. Paired with a little backlight bleed and IPS glow, it makes dark content undesirable. The coating is matte and only noticeable on plain white screens or when light shines on it. It's not my favorite coating, and I would prefer something closer to what the LG GP850 has, which is more of a semi-gloss. The motion clarity is very good for an IPS panel, and as someone who has used OLEDs and daily drives an OLED TV, this monitor definitely keeps up for competitive play. I'd say it has roughly a 3.5 to 4 ms response time (I use the "Fast" response setting) and get no noticeable overshoot, even at 60 Hz. Input lag is perfect, and there are no anomalies with increased input lag at lower refresh rates. The build is better than I expected. It's still all plastic, but it looks very nice, and they even included a joystick (noice). I don't use the stand, but it's also great and wouldn't take up too much space on my desk. The monitor is plug-and-play. I made no adjustments to the colors, and they looked pretty accurate. The user interface is aesthetically pleasing and responsive. I highly recommend this monitor for competitive play. It provides a great balance of picture quality/clarity and speed. The last time monitors like this were available was 2018, and I've really missed them. So, I hope these do well, and we can get even higher-end versions.🤞 ... show more

  • Great monitor for a small desk
Great monitor for the limitations of my small desk. I replaced a 24 inch 1080p monitor with this monitor and the difference is amazing. I’m running this off a gaming laptop so I can’t use the display port and have to opt for HDMI. It seems that I could only get up to 144hz refresh rate. I tried the display port on my brothers computer and he got 165hz immediately. I was, however, able to overclock it to 165hz on HDMI, not that I’m really able to tell the difference anyway. Out of the box, the color was a bit yellow. I was able to fix that fairly quickly messing around with the colors myself. This monitor also introduced me to DCR and it’s pretty cool to see it when playing games. Having the crosshair overlay option is great for games that don’t have one. I’m not going to use it that often but it’s nice to have it when I need it. Regarding the sleep issues other people have been having, I have not had this problem with HDMI. Even when testing the monitor with display port in my brothers computer, we weren’t able to replicate the problem. Although supposedly, the sleep issue only happens if it’s a second monitor. We only tested it as the only monitor. The base of the monitor has great range of motion. I love having it as high up as it’ll go. It’s also nice to rotate it when managing the cords. Overall, I wish it could have the advertised 165hz on HDMI, but with being able to overclock it, it’s not much to complain about anyway. Personally, I think the price of this is good for it being pretty much the only option for 1440p at 24 inches, at least in the US. ... show more

  • Stands alone
There are a few minor things about this monitor that bug me, but it's perfectly usable and the reality is it's the only decent monitor I could find at this size and resolution. So it almost feels pointless to give it a normal review: if you want a 24 inch 1440p monitor with a high refresh rate, this is that. The included stand is great. It has pitch/roll/yaw as well as height adjustment and it feels very stable. The power supply is an external brick, which is weird but not really a problem. The biggest issue I have with it is the interface; the only control is a joystick/button combo on the back that's awkward to reach for and slow to use. The on-screen settings menu is the worst I've ever seen. Switching inputs seems like it would be the most commonly-used option, but instead there are quick shortcuts to adjust the volume (I guess it has speakers? I can't get them to work) and to overlay a cheesy red crosshair in the middle of the screen. Options are hidden in confusing categories like "Display", "Game mode", and "Other" that keep you guessing where the setting you want actually lives. And as far as I can tell there's no way to show the current refresh rate (for VRR), something my other cheaper monitor and my TV can both do. The actual display panel seems good. I don't have equipment to measure color accuracy but it looks sharp, colorful, and bright. Mine has a small grey mark in the top corner that I believe is a defect in the backlight diffuser, but I haven't found any dead pixels so far. It does have a little bit of that "tunnel" effect at the edges (where you can see the gap between the panel and backlight) but it's not really noticable unless you're looking from an angle. Supposedly it supports HDR but there's no local dimming or anything so I haven't bothered to test it. I have the same problem another reviewer mentioned where it doesn't go to sleep properly. Windows thinks it's turning the display off but it keeps showing a black image with the backlight on. It's not a huge problem, but slightly more annoying because the power button is hard to reach and has to be held down to power it off. If I had two other similar monitors to compare it to, I suspect this would not be the best one. But I don't know of any others sold in the U.S. with these exact specs, so all I can really say is that it's good enough for me. ... show more
