This is the second time I’ve ordered the Kol Artificial Cattail Reed Grass 2 back. Last summer I ordered a set of the 4ft high grasses to “plant”, pot and all, in my front garden of a second home. They add a bit of shape and color contrast among my evergreens and hosta. The 3 ft version are being used to give some bed height variation. The older taller version hasn’t faded at all, so the new ones fit into my plant scheme perfectly. Because I am not in residence full time, interplanting highly realistic faux plants into my landscape has rescued my garden from poor soil and light conditions as well as drought. With the vast improvements of form, materials and color retention the past several years, faux plants and shrubs are very cost effective dupes for the real things with zero maintenance and watering needs. Neighbors complimenting my landscapes and planters have no idea they are praising faux “plantings”. My posted photos show how well these high quality plants are packed, as well as several “befores and afters” of “fluffing and shaping” process after unboxing them. I’ve found that as I spread out the fronds, running your thumbnail along the length of the grass blades “rib” gives them a natural outward curl, adding greatly to their realism. It’s a similar process to how we curl old fashioned ribbed paper ribbon against a scissors blade and worth the extra time. The fluffing and curling takes about 5 minutes per plant. I bought 2 of the 4ft Artificial Cat Grasses to use in my large planters outside at the beach. I normally buy real maiden grass, but between the afternoon sun and strong winds they always seem to dry up. So I decided to try these artificial grasses instead. They look very realistic and the coloring is great. They need to be “fluffed” so they look a little fuller. Just gently spread out the stems around outside. I tried the technique from another reviewer to run your thumb along the ribs so it gives a graceful arch to the grass blades. It works great on all the shorter ones around edge. I suggest using a napkin to do it so you don’t get a paper cut on your finger and because there is some color transfer. I put one in each of my large planters and topped with white stones. They look great and provide some privacy. The video I included shows how realistic they look blowing in the wind. ... show more

Beautiful, but it was not 4' tall. I had to prop it up 5" in order for it to be seen behind my water fall. Which is 37.5" The back vase with rock is a nice touch too.
