  • I love this thing.
I’ve been using a little el cheapo plastic ball winder for a few years. It was great while it lasted, but something is breaking down, and it started making a loud clicking noise while I am winding yarn. I began some research into upgrading to a wooden winder. I looked at a bunch of them. I chose this one because of the brand, the price, and because the reviews were all 5 star. It arrived within a week, and I immediately took it out and set it in its new home, next to my swift. It was super easy to set up and to use. And, WOW, is it nice!!! It is quiet, sturdy, very well built and engineered, and so much easier to use than my little plastic one. And, it is a great value for the money. I kind of wish I would have gotten this (A lot) sooner. It makes winding yarn cakes a dream. It is super easy to use, and so much easier on my post carpal tunnel hands than my old one. And, just so it is clear, I have not received any freebies from the company, I don’t work for them, or have stock in their company. I am just a very happy and satisfied customer. Now if it only had a motor. :D ... show more

  • Best winder ever!
I really like this yarn winder. I didn’t like the cheap-looking plastic ones, so I purchased this one instead. It was a bit more expensive, but since it’s wood, it should have a greater longevity than the plastic. It works great! I have wound tiny cakes all the way up to extra-large ones. It holds them all! It’s very easy to use. I have to remind myself to remove the belt each time when I’m done, though, so it won’t get stretched out. It couldn’t be easier to set up and use. Just clamp to your work surface/table edge , put on the belt, and start winding! ... show more

  • Amazing perfection!
I just wound a skein of wool yarn that has over 400 yards. The small, standard plastic winders could not handle that load and I wound up with a mess on top of the wound ball with them. But this winder is out of this world! I haven't even had to use the clamp to secure it to a table edge: I discovered that I can use my left hand to hold this winder in place while my right hand revolves the circular handled piece, albeit with occasional quick breaks so as not to get my left hand too tired. This is an amazing invention for winding yarn. It is the best of all of those in existence! ... show more

  • Awesome!!
OMG!!! Why on EARTH didn't I know of this gadget beforehand?? Oh no...I had to accidentally come across this on YouTube looking for crochet patterns. But because I'm weird, I take a paint roller (the long spongy foam ones), cut 2 slits on opposite ends (doesn't matter which end), fold up a small piece of paper because if you don't the roller will just spend so you must make it snug. Take your yard and insert into the split of the roller and let the party begin! The only thing left to do is remove the roller when done and place it on your yarn stand. Talk about easy peasy, quick and convenient!!!!!! Happy camper here!!!! ... show more

  • Every Knitter’s Wish
Very quiet way to wind hanks! I got so tired of rolling hanks and skeins I thought I’d try this. It takes a bit to get used to it, since I’ve never used a ball winder before. So much quicker than doing it by hand. I bought this one, even though it was a bit pricey, because parts are sold if anything breaks. ... show more

  • Disappointed in quality.
I’ve wanted my own for years and finally bought one. I’m so disappointed as two of things are warped. The big base wood is warped and doesn’t sit flat on the table so it rocks. I figured this would be fixed when it gets clamped so it doesn’t rock, but the clamp I received is bent so when you clamp it, it angles to one side. I was able to wind my ball, but the quality is so disappointing. I should return it, but I threw out my packaging :(. ... show more

  • Best purchase I've made
This thing is amazing. It winds entire red heart skeins, no issue. It can go incredibly fast, which I love. I've used it for everything from sock yarn to super bulky and have had absolutely zero issues-- I'd buy this again and again.

  • Perfect for big skeins
It came already put together. I have a giant skein of Miss Babs that’s almost 500g of fingering yarn. I tried a friend’s jumbo Lacis ball winder and it wouldn’t hold it all. This one did with no issues.
