BE AWARE! It ships in the product box. Shaped like a box you'd think a violin would be in, and it says "Violin" on all sides. Surprise gift for my wife, RUINED. I'm returning it. UPDATE! Their customer service is spectacular! The packaging issue was with Amazon NOT Kmise. However, they made me a VERY generous offer as restitution anyway (which I did not accept for reasons.) I ended up giving my wife the violin packaged in a huge box so she had no idea as she though I had returned it. It seems to be of good quality. Appearance-wise, its a beautiful instrument in a very nice case. Would recommend. Kudos to customers service!

I think it's an inch too small from the standard full size violin, and the pegs slip like crazy with no peg compound provided, but it's a super cheap violin. You get what you pay for. Whatever material it's made of has something on it that offgasses and stinks like crazy (like new furniture) when you first buy it too. And of course, all the strings and the rosin are all extremely cheap too. Soundwise it's about what you'd expect from a cheapest-option violin: glassy/metallic and hollow with poor projection and difficult to play on. But, it works, and is fine for a beginner or as a temporary replacement (renting a cheap violin for two or three months will already cost you more than this).

It may take several days (and better rosin) before a proper sound can be produced. I bought this violin as a low-cost practice instrument for my son, who has been playing the violin for 12 years and is currently attending a boarding school. The goal was simply to keep his hands in shape, not for performance use. The initial setup, such as placing the bridge, took some effort, and customer service was not easily accessible from our location. The quality is acceptable for the price. However, the included rosin is extremely poor. Even with 12 years of playing experience, my son has only been able to produce a scratchy sound so far, so I ordered better rosin separately. Overall, for a budget instrument where potential damage is an acceptable risk, this violin serves its purpose.
