Not gift quality if there's clear coat drippings on it. At least for the price would of liked something nice to look at if I do never learn at least. I tried following the book about how to sit and tune the violin spent over an hour could never get it right. Told my husband he said he would tune it but he was laying down in bed I'm like your not gonna be able to do that he said watch me. I sat watching him the whole time convinced he was never gonna tune that violin laying down that's ridiculous. Well I couldn't believe it he said here try it I played every string and it stayed true on the metronome. I was pretty annoyed at first that I tried doing it by the book hurt my neck shoulders and he just laid in bed unbelievable. Some people just have natural talent. On closer inspection you can just see the cheapness to it almost toy quality and probably is to the right person. I have zero past experience with a violin just always thought it would be cool to play. The sound is decent to me even soothing but what do I know really. Just really hated it had all those drip marks.

Great for beginners/Great Back Up Violin

I got this so that I could have a violin to play while I’m at my Grandma’s in FL since I wouldn’t dare try to bring any of my other violins on an airplane. It’s definitely a student violin but I feel like it’s well worth the price. Of course with all new violins, it took a bit for the strings to settle in but aside from that, it plays quite nicely. I would suggest buying a different shoulder rest because the one it comes with kept collapsing on me while I was playing.

Overall, this was a good quality violin for the money. We wanted a beginners violin for my daughter to teach herself. It seems decent, but she was disappointed in the manual. One of the strings broke while trying to tune but we tightened it too much. Overall, I’m happy with this purchase and once she learns to play, we will upgrade!

No Extra Strings, Bad Shoulder Rest, Ruined My Day

The violin arrived in a nice case. I went to set up the bridge (yes, you have to do that yourself). While the instructions were unclear and unhelpful (they left out important information), a quick YouTube video helped a lot. Adequate so far. The "instrument" was fairly cheap-looking and even cheaper-feeling. As others have already mentioned, there is a little smell to the case. It was a 4/5 stars given the low price (for a violin) that I paid for it. ($120). Then, the frustrations began. The shoulder rest was, I think, too small. It did not fit, and I was not able to get it up. Trying again later. YouTube videos did not help. It also came in 4 parts: 2 screws, the "legs," and the main body. It was hard to assemble. The instructions were either unclear, unhelpful, or just didn't mention it. 3.5/5 stars now. Then, the strings were loose after putting on the bridge. With just a little twist of the tuning knob, the purple string snapped. My son has a violin summer camp next week. I bought this last week thinking that it was going to be a good fit. It was not. After looking online, it turns out that this violin comes with extra strings. After a squabble and frantic looking around, we could not find it. In the photos of other reviewers, I saw a plastic bag that WE DID NOT RECEIVE containing the extra strings. I had to order extra strings and pay to ship them in time for my son's camp. This violin is TERRIBLE! This "instrument" is the bare minimum to be considered such a thing. There are also secret pockets in the violin case, which may be hard to find at first glance. 2/5 stars. Honestly, I have seen that case so many times that I never want to look at it NOR the unclear booklet ever again. I think that this company (or the cheap Chinese company making this) should not print this unclear, infuriating booklet and the instructions. Save the money, and put it into your QUALITY CONTROL!! Underpaid workers at "Kmise", have you ever heard about quality control?? Everyone, this is an okay product if you like surprises, last-minute changes, or hate beginners. Just rent or get a violin from a different company. Please.

A full kit with everything that I needed to start learning

The great things about this is actually the seller or I should say the supplier I had a bit of an issue and emailed them they resolved it immediately with the best outcome possible, another thing I like about it is it comes with a full kit of everything spare strings and guides and shoulder rest, manual and even stickers for notes and finger placement I love the case It looks very nice and I'm no expert but to me it sounds good enough to start to practice and to learn The only thing I had to buy separately was violin mute everything else was included
