I bought this for my 7 year old for Christmas and then, a few days later, opened it up and began on miniature ceramics journey. Totally had a lot of fun making our tiny pots, cups, and plates. It was both a fun, creative activity as well as a great way to teach little ones patience (since you'll need to allow the ceramics to dry and the paint to dry). This is a really cute kit that we bought for my daughter’s birthday. I think it may have been sitting in the wear house for too long, though. Everything was fine until it was time to paint/glaze the pieces she made. The paint is pretty standard “kid acrylic” pots so we could thin them with water to make it usable, but the glaze is a lost cause and we “sealed” the clay with clear nail polish instead. ... show more

TINY CERAMIC STUDIO is a fun craft and activity kit that teaches different ways to work with air-dry clay to make small ceramics. Once they have been made and dried, the set includes paints and a paintbrush to design them and then a glaze to seal them. The book that comes with it gives step-by-step instructions to help inspire and create small items, such as bowls, vases, plates, and so on. The amount of clay lends itself to creating these miniatures, and provides enough to create quite a few items. What I loved: This is such a fun way to get creative and make something new. The kit really includes everything you would need to create these little miniatures, and children will definitely get into making these. The paint and glaze helps to make them even more fun and professional feeling. Inspiration comes easily from the fun book that gives instructions for making simple shapes and items as well as techniques for different designs (starting with circles or snakes, etc.). The yellow tools and roller add to the cool things children can create with the set. The turntable is just functional enough and adds an element of the professional to this cute, tiny ceramics set. The clay does need a full day to dry, which can be tough for eager children, but this helps to draw out the fun over a couple days. There is also plenty of clay, so it is helpful if children start with a few test items before using up all the clay. We found that some vases were not really sturdy and broke while being painted, so needed to do a thicker clay to hold up during the rest of the process. Final verdict: TINY CERAMIC STUDIO is a delightful craft and activity kit that is sure to keep children busy for hours and create some adorable, little items that they can construct, paint, and glaze. This craft set includes a booklet that gives instructions on how to make your own little clay items. Everything you need is included; clay, a little turntable, paint, paintbrush, tools for shaping the clay, and a paper mold. This book got me all inspired to try some sculpting for myself! It's so creative and fun! You can make tiny little plates, pots, bowls, vases, and even little animal friends. And once the clay has dried, you can paint it with all sorts of cool designs. The instruction book gives clear instructions for every step of the way, and encourages the artist to make up their own designs and try new things! There are also instructions on keeping your workspace clean and making sure that you don't make a huge mess. This craft set and book are so interesting and fun! This would make the perfect gift for a young person to explore their creativity and learn something about art!
