    • Good price, brittle to heat.
I'll start with what I liked about this item. The shape was routed well and the size was small enough to fit inside the smelter if you desire to take that approach, however I never got the chance to explore that option because the material was brittle and didn't hold up to the heat very well at all. I used a oxy propane torch to melt 1 ozt of silver in this mold and after the first use I notice a small amount of breakdown in the dexterity of graphite walls, the next day I attempted to melt another ozt of silver using the same method and as soon as I tapped the ignot out of the mold the graphite crumbled into a couple dozen small pieces. If you are looking to just get a couple uses out of this item then it did work well for that and the price was cheap enough to replace it, however when I replace it I'm going to try a different product in hopes of getting a longer ride for my money. ... show more
