I read all of the other reviews before purchasing this Klein Tools Tradesman Pro Tough Box 55600 Cooler for my husband, and I can say that this is worth the hype. After researching various coolers, I decided to get this one made by Klein. This cooler has pretty much all the features I want. Namely I wanted a cooler with 1) good ice retention, 2) nice size but not too heavy and 3) not overly expensive. The hold 17 quarts. It also had a tiny compartment to hold things you wouldn't want to get wet from the other contents inside the cooler. To test the ice retention, I didn't have ice cubes to test with so instead froze about a dozen 10 ounce sized water bottles. Then I layered the cooler with a couple of pre-frozen reusable ice packs, the frozen bottles of water and some more ice packs on top. I then kept the cooler closed except to check after 30, 36 and 48 hours. i left the cooler out, indoors at about 80 degrees for this test. To my satisfaction, even after 48 hours in the cooler, most of the bottles of water were still partially frozen. Pretty impressive! Here is what I like and dislike of this cooler: Likes: - good ice retention - plenty of size (17 quarts) - light weight for the cooler's capacity - tiny dry stuff compartment - hasp for locking lid if needed Dislikes: -------- - not a deal breaker, but my preference is more solid handle instead of a seatbelt type strap I give the Fein 17 quart cooler 5 out of 5 stars. ... show more

    • Good robust cooler, but sadly no latches for the lid.
This is a good robust ice chest. It keeps ice decently in the heat. I cant tell if it will rech the 30 hour claim as ive been using reusable icebags vs filling it full of ice. Its decent for daily use. I'm tall so its a little low to sit on. However it does support my 275lbs fine. I did take a star off since oddly there's no latches keeping the lid closed. The only thing you could do is put a lock or carabiner through it. It would be a 5 star item if it had latches. As it is the lid can come open or wont be held closed. Even with this, Its certainly better than igloo or other cheap ice chests. ... show more

I will have to say I have bought several coolers over the years and for the money this Klein is worth every penny! Although I know Klein has an EXCELLENT reputation for their tools and I do own several, I wasn’t looking to them for a cooler. I should have known they would not put their name on anything that wasn’t top of the line and this cooler was no exception. The whole reason I looked at the cooler was the simple shoulder strap that was even more sturdy than the pictures. I like a cooler that has a strap that way my hands are free to carry other things like a laptop or something else. This also cuts back on trips to the truck. This cooler is tough and I mean Honey Badger tough! It is a little heavy, very sturdy and very well made. It also has a small storage compartment in the top of the lid for small items. Klein also claims that this cooler will support a 300 pound man I can’t say for sure, but it is a great seat for me at 180 lbs. (I would be willing for someone to try it) And last but definitely not least YES, YES, YES! this cooler keeps my stuff cold!!! I can say I have only tested it for two days and it did awesome! Normally I would look for a cooler made by companies like Colman, Igloo, and Ozark Trail which I either have or still own. They are all good but for my everyday lunch cooler this one is top shelf number one! I have had other people to ask, “Hey is that a Klein tool box?” “That’s nice” And when I open it up with food in it they love it. I bought this cooler for my husband 4 years ago and it's still in awesome shape. He works outside in the AZ heat and this has been the best! He uses it to sit on during lunch.
