It looks like this companies other single wall water bottles are dishwasher safe, but not this one and any of their double installed bottles. Many other companies who make similar water bottles have dishwasher safe options, so I was very surprised to find that this one isn't(especially considering the premium price). To start with a positive comment, the body of the bottle is very sturdy and seems to be durable. The problem I had (I don't know in which garbage bag could it be) is that the cap's quality is very poor. The cap's frame started to slide in about two months, making it very hard to open and close. And now, after less than four months of usage, the cap completely decoupled, making the bottle completely useless. ... show more

I’ve been a devout Klean Kanteen user for 15 years now, first purchasing the the 12oz snippy cups for my son, now 16. I still have a few that managed to survive his toddler years and 10 years of school. I refuse to buy any other brand of water bottle as I trusted KK was top quality and wouldn’t leech toxins into my family’s drinks. I have numerous single walled KK’s - including my daughter’s. She‘s clumsy, thus, very tough on her water bottles. Her KK’s from middle and high school look like they spent 5 years at a construction site and may not stand up straight, but they still hold liquids without leaking. As opposed to my kids, I’m very careful with my water bottles. I can count the # of times of dropped mine in the past 15 years on 1 hand! When the insulated bottles came out, I was quick to buy the 20oz w/ cafe cap since I was fed up with finding a bottle full of hot water in the car during summer after spending 15 mins in a store. The 20oz insulated proved a excellent purchase. I once forgot it on the roof of the car, and retrieved it from the gutter the next day to find only the cap slightly scuffed. Had my daughter not given it to her ex-boyfriend, I’d likely still have it. Fast forward to last year when I purchased the 32oz in brushed silver. I even bought an aftermarket silicone protective sleeve for it, so it would last a long time and remain in good condition. Early this summer I filled it with water and accidentally knocked it off the kitchen counter onto the floor. It fell on the kitchen rug, on it’s side. There no dents or any visible damage other than the top seam. On one side, the exterior wall sat 1mm lower than the interior wall. I continued using it since it’s the only insulated KK I have, but recently discovered that the multitude of GI issues I’ve experienced over the past few months are likely due to bacteria in the insulated portion. (I verified this after I put tea in my bottle last week, and then tasted it from the top seam last night, even though I’ve washed it 3x and have been filling it with water every day since the tea 7-8 days ago) Very upset and disappointed! KK’s warranty period is only 90 days, so I’m out a $40 water bottle. Contemplating Hydro Flask as my sister highly recommends the brand. Hard to say good bye to Klean Kanteen though… ... show more
