I've had this dish rack for a few weeks and it's made a huge difference in my attitude about washing dishes. I used to hate trying to stack plates, bowls, cups, glasses, and pots in my old drainer because it was too small, rusty, and just unpleasant to look at. This rack looks very nice on the counter, it's sturdy, and has lots of room for me to pile stuff in it. The minor annoyances - little things do fall through the grate. The sides are not very tall so things tend to tilt over. It also doesn't drain well, but what drainer does? I put something under one end to help tip the water into the sink. Overall, I recommend this drainer over any cheap thing you might find in the local housewares store. I'm not kidding when I say I actually like doing dishes now. ... show more

This really updated the look of our kitchen counter by the sink. It replaced an ancient, worn-out but functional Rubbermaid we'd held onto for 20+ years. Gray color blends well with dramatic, streaky red and black granite. The tray can get grungy but cleans up easily. The rack does have a design flaw, in my opinion. It has six prongs for cups or glasses but can only hold three, unless they were super-narrow juice glasses or champagne flutes. ... show more

I don't know what I should expect from a dish drying rack but spending a good bit of money ($78) and then having it crack and rust in under two years wasn't what I imagined, especially from a company as reputable as KitchenAid. It is a pretty generous size and is easy to clean the trays beneath. The draining function works well and it can fit a lot of items of different shapes and sizes.     • Nice rack, but not so sure about this one (for our needs anyway)

We currently have a small dish rack and use a flat ribbed silicone mat for extra items, but the collected water doesn’t drain from it so items take forever to dry. We looked for a better solution. Loved the size of the KitchenAid rack and that it comes with a sloped extension for additional cups etc. Kitchen Aid is a good brand and this is a nicely-finished, well-made dish rack. But as others have said the sides are too low to support larger items. I guess we could leave the wine glass extension attached to lean large items against. Also, the bottom tray came curved upward in the middle, so water collects in the 2 front corners next to the drain opening instead of flowing into the sink. For an $80 dish rack, I expect it to function properly out of the box—not need me to bend parts to the proper shape (which I tried but it’s still not right). This one is going back for something just as nice but with higher sides and a drain that works. Also one nitpick is it has supports for 10 plates, which is the same as our small dish rack— would have been nice to have more (our dishes are flat). ... show more

We replaced a slightly deeper, slightly larger drying rack of similar design that we had for years. It had a white plastic tray with slightly rough surface that absorbed any dirty water. Even with scrubbing, it looked grim quickly and could never recover. Fortunately, this tray has a much smoother surface and tilts better to drain. You still have to regularly tilt and/or scrub the tray corners at the low end by the sink, which are easily accessible. This was the largest replacement we could find-and it’s working because the drying space is an efficient design. Add your own regular removal of the tray to rinse and scrub (say weekly?), this drying rack should look good for many years. ... show more

This dish drain is sturdy and holds my heavy cast iron pots, with ease. To prevent rust on seams, we spray painted a few spots silver/gray to match. Also, I use white (food grade) mineral oil (commonly used to clean stainless steel & sold on Amazon) on the drain board to prevent unsightly water spots and make cleaning easy.
