I waited a little while to write a review. I was hesitant to purchase a new dish rack because I’m picky and I guess as I get older I hate all the new gadgets that are being added to things and the throw-away quality. However, I knew it was finally time. Kitchenade had not failed me and I was not disappointed. They thought of of all the design flaws of old fashion racks. What I love: -The water tray actually hangs over the rim of my sink. It can be adjusted, and emptied separate from the rack -The feet are raised up and have rubber tips to negate rusting -The silverware section is removable so you can wash/rinse it out (we all know racks need washing too). -There are three sections to the silverware section. Two of these are for those small parts that can get easily lost, and there are removable trays at the top of these sections that allow you to use these for silverware instead. All of these drain into the bottom tray. -At the other end of the rack is an area to hang cups. They have rubber ends to protect your dishes. -It has an easy-to wipe stainless steel siding. -It is a perfect compact size (which happens to be the same size as the one I precisely had), which doesn’t take up too much counter space, while also holding a lot of dishes. What you may not love: - Limited in colors. -It’s compact. There are only three of us and most of our dishes go in the dishwasher. Might not be the choice for large, non-dishwasher families. After finally replacing that yucky bamboo dish drying rack (no way to prevent mold on those) I switched to a dish drying cloth which basically equates to a perpetually wet countertop, so I decided to dig deep and find something more suitable. I was happy to find this KitchenAid Dish Rack. The black and stainless color combo is super stylish, and matches my kitchen perfectly, but it is also so functional for my household. I have a double drawer dishwasher, which is amazing, but I still have items that I prefer to hand wash and not run through even the delicate dishwasher cycle - including my All Clad cookware - so this is perfect. I also really like the black coverings on the cup holders (they're a nice touch). I have seen reviews mentioning it is a little small and I would agree that it could be small if you had to rely solely on this as your means for drying a mountain of hand washed dishes but, in my case, as a supplement to my dishwasher the size is spot on. I like the compact size as it doesn't overwhelm my countertop and it easily fits under my sink (sideways) when not in use. This dish rack is exactly what I needed for my small kitchen. It’s sturdy, compact, and holds a surprising amount of dishes without taking up too much counter space. The stainless steel looks sleek and matches well with my appliances. The water drains neatly, and it’s easy to clean. I LOVE this Kitchenaid dish drying rack. Photo 1--This is my reason for the 4 stars--It did not drain the water fast enough for me. If you look at the photo, I remedy it but putting an object under the back end of the drain tray. I just happened to have a plastic Easter egg and used the top half. Perfect height. Water drains immediately. You can use anything, Paper Cup, block of wood to name a couple. Photo 2--Just make sure that the holes in your utensil tray is over the tray so it drains out into the sink and not on your counter. Photo 3--Reviewers said that the dishes do not stand up. Yes, that is true if you don't use the first slot. I have bought several dish racks in my many years, and I don't recall even one would hold a plate straight up if you put it in the middle of the drying rack. You will also notice that I have heavy stoneware dishes and it works for me. I choose to remove the top cover on the utensil tray to hold flatware separately. Also, it holds 10 plates and still about 3" to add something. As for the glass holder. Love that feature but unfortunately, it will not hold 6 of my glasses but still happy with it. This drying rack is very heavy and strong. Please note that I have the compact size only because there are some things I choose not to put in the dishwasher. This is still plenty big. ... show more

Stylish, compact dish washing rack that works well for a two person household. What I love - Stainless steel and black color looks great on our countertop. Easy to assemble. Great organization for a small footprint - love the long utensil organizer with three compartments and hooks for cups. Most dishes don’t sit in the drainage board. What could be better - Not expandable. Would love an expandable option that’s also compact. We just use drying mats when needed. Some water does pool on the drainage board, however, it isn’t significant and dries in time. ... show more

This drainer is poorly designed! It is flat rather than tilted toward the sink so that the water sits pooled in the rubber drainage try instead of draining into the sink. I would NOT buy this again and will probably replace it soon. Not up to KitchenAid's usual standards! In addition, the flatware holder is not deep enough so that the utensils fall over sideways or clear out of the rack! ... show more
