  • Book is Brilliant
Best book on tarot I have encountered! The sharing of real world readings is a bonus. The organization of major & minor arcana are enhanced by the actual descriptor of here’s a two card - generally a two means…, but depending on the suit there is a further issue to discover. Wow! It starts to make sense. I will never, ever do a reading for anyone else. It’s all about my journey, it’s confusing enough. This book along with my brand of tarot has been eye opening. A murky puzzle in my life is given a suggestion/focus as to how to pick my way through. A calming influence. Thank you for having written this book. Much appreciated. ... show more

  • A new staple in my tarot book collection.
I'm a fan of this book and recommend it for all tarot readers. It is a useful tool to have in your arsenal, if nothing else. I have not read it cover-to-cover, yet. I've been using the book as a reference only but it has been very useful for just that. There is plenty of reading material other than card explanations in the book that I will sit down and digest in due time. The writing style is unique and pretty easy to read. The author did a nice job writing in a story-telling fashion without it feeling too cheesy. Most of the cards have an anecdote attached which I feel is very useful for learning card meanings. It's easier to remember a story someone told you than it is to remember lists of meanings and information. I found that a few of the interpretations of the cards were unique and I found new perspectives in this book, that alone makes it a worthwhile read to me. Whenever I hit a block during a reading, I reference this book. Something I look for in a tarot book is real life meanings and interpretations that go beyond spiritual guidance. I can Google endless resources for learning that Death is about change, but what kind of change? Drawing out the relevant real-life details is one of the trickiest parts of divination and this book does a decent job of exploring that side of reading for prediction. It gives you a direction to explore and makes you move your feet, so-to-speak. Getting the reader in motion like so is a great way to break through diviner's fog. This book is not the only tarot resource you will ever need, but it will be useful. ... show more

  • Good introduction for the Tarot beginner
I'm no longer a beginner, but a lot of the Tarot books I have read felt very academic and dry. I was looking for something a little different and decided to finally take this one off the shelf. On the one hand, it has a light, grounded, modern, and conversational tone to it - which was just what I was looking for. On the other, it feels a bit rushed and lacks the depth I have come to appreciate in other Tarot books. I will say, if you like a book that gets straight to the point and lacks a lot of the "woo" of other Tarot books, you will probably enjoy this one! The down to earth style of this book is a breath of fresh air. As a more intermediate/advanced Tarot student I'm honestly not really sure if I learned much. At times Melissa's observations resonated with me and I thought, "why hadn't I thought of that before?" At other times, though, I felt like her meanings were completely off-base for me. But that's the fun thing about Tarot, it's incredibly subjective. I do wish the same level of attention were paid to the cards more equally, sometimes there was a whole story to go with a card and sometimes just a couple of keywords, in that regard it didn't feel entirely consistent. Overall, I do think this book would make a great introduction for someone brand new to Tarot. It doesn't feel as overwhelming or dry as a lot of other Tarot books, even ones that are designed for beginners. It would be a light and easy introduction to a topic that has so much depth. I probably would not as likely recommend it for anyone who already has some knowledge of Tarot, it just doesn't have the depth that a lot of other Tarot books do. ... show more

  • Must Read!!
I’ve been slowly dabbling in learning tarot since 2019. I’ve had countless tarot books, but have never read one from front to back, until this book came along. This literally felt like chatting with a friend about tarot over coffee. Melissa made it so easy to read and understand the cards. Giving examples and amazing keywords to remember each card. I was highlighting like crazy, and literally read this book in less than 24 hours. I highly recommend to give this one a go, you won’t regret it. ... show more

  • Easy,fun, and educational
So I have been self taught with tarot most my 5 year journey. I’m always on the lookout for good source material to build on my abilities. I discovered this book through a friend and after reading a small section of it I was hooked. She writes as though you and her are having a simple chat over coffee or tea and explains things in simple uncomplicated ways. I loved this book so much I purchased a copy for myself as well as Kitchen Table Magic and 5 elements of tarot to change your life. I’ll be doing a review of those as well as soon as i finish them. Great for beginners or experienced practitioners ... show more
