Solidly built with metal frames. Originally ordered for some airplane travel, which can be brutal. Those did not arrive was bummed. They made it right and these are great. I really like how compact these are to keep in my small purse, especially when I forget to carry my regular reading glasses. They unfold easily as long as you don't get in a hurry. I don't know how sturdy they would be if they were handled too often and too roughly. I take my time unfolding and folding, so they have been just fine in that regard. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the joints where they fold get caught in my hair and pull. They're fine once they're on, but putting them on and taking them off is sometimes painful and actually breaks a hair strand or two. If the folding joints were smooth, they would be awesome. Dim light and small print make it impossible to read things as I age. I was constantly frustrated with restaurant menus as well as filling out the credit card receipts after dinner. I don't need glasses except for reading and so I did not want to be bothered carrying reading glasses. I bought these hoping they would fit in my pocket easily and be there for me when I need them. It has made a huge difference to have them there when I need them and has reduced my reading frustrations tremendously. Though the glasses are thin and somewhat fragile, the hard case protects them from damage. The case is so thin, you don't even notice it in your pocket. When handled with care, they work great. Perfect size glasses for emergencies, out on a long hike or bike ride, etc. Clear sharp lenses, slightly odd feeing while wearing them. The only real problem though is the case. You have to squeeze both sides and it's very hard to get the case to pull open.
