    • A great remake of the classic Wii game.

A pretty good remake of the Wii game, that improves many things. The graphics look slightly better, though I'm not sure why the characters have outlines now, maybe to make them stand out for players more. The main game mode is fun for single or four player co-op. Like many Kirby games, some ignorant gamers who never played Kirby will assume it's just some "cutesy kiddy platformer," but it's much deeper than that. It gets more challenging later on, especially once you unlock extra mode. The story also gets darker later, so it doesn't feel too cute, and the final boss is a pretty epic fight reminding you how tough and cool Kirby is. (He isn't in Smash Brothers for no reason.) The new mini game mode featuring many mini games from past Kirby games (including ones from GBA, and DS, usually systems that Nintendo ignores when doing games like this) including some of my favorites like Checkerboard Chase from Kirby 64, and the Egg Catch from Kirby's Adventure. For fans who grew up with the Wii, there's even an option for motion control if you're using a JoyCon for some mini-games, or button-only if you prefer. Neither gives any player an advantage luckily so everyone is free to play how they want. The unlockable masks are fun to wear, and pay homage to many characters from the history of the Kirby series. They can even be used in the main action game. My only criticisms are, in single player there's no option to play as the other characters besides Kirby, (unless there's a way to unlock that I don't know about, correct me if I'm wrong) aside from in boss rush mode. There's no online mode, except for the Ninja 100 mini game. The other mini-games online might be nice, though I can understand why they didn't do the main game online, considering all the opportunities random troll players would have to sabotage your game progress... And also, I'm not to big on King Dedede being redesigned to resemble his "Forgotten Worlds" design. (Maybe they want him to look less like a penguin?) Regardless, it's a great game for any Kirby or Nintendo fan, young or old. I highly recommend it, as it's one of the best Kirby Side-scrollers available, and offers a lot of variety of play. ... show more
