  • Not for the faint of heart - but worked great
I have to say - this worked a treat. I had purchased a handmade bowl I LOVED and my new kitten knocked it over her first night in the house and broke it into about 9-10 pieces. I remembered this method of repair and thought it could be perfect. Here’s what I learned: 1) it can’t hurt to try this. You’ll likely throw your broken item out anyway if you’re unhappy with the outcome - at least this could repair it. 2) follow directions. Put epoxy on both sides you’re joining. It makes a difference. 3) you need to be confident enough to move quickly but not so fast that you’re sloppy with the handling of the materials. It dries in about five minutes from the time you mix it - and with good reason. It’s enough time to get it mixed, put the epoxy on both sides and line up your pieces —- and then you need to join those pieces confidently so the epoxy oozes from the seem and HOLD IT in place until the five minutes is up and its chemical reaction is complete enough to hold. If you let go to early, the seam will split (it won’t look good) and you risk the piece falling off. Hold it long enough to bond and you’re golden - don’t get impatient!!!! 4) don’t rush. Give the previous pieces you’ve joined time to really bond/cure before adding your next piece so you’re not pushing/pressing on pieces that don’t have good firmness yet. All in all I’m VERY pleased with the outcome - but I’m also no novice to handcraft. I’d imagine that inexperienced crafters would really struggle with this. You have to have a solid game plan, a good sense of what needs doing, an appreciation for the method and both confidence and patience all at once. If you’re not experienced crafter and skillful with your hands, this will likely be very messy and frustrating for you. Also: this method isn’t for perfectionists. It’s meant to highlight the breaks and putting a piece back together will not result in a perfect outcome with smooth gold lines. It’s oozing epoxy and that doesn’t happen evenly ;-) ... show more

  • Did you also find this from TikTok? Cuz I did
At first, I was really excited to do this project and because of my excitement I failed to read the instructions. Whenever you put the mixture into a little paper bowl, you’re supposed to put the glitter in before you start putting it onto your ceramic edges. I didn’t read that part, and I stuck the ceramic pieces together with just the resin and no glitter. I tried to go back and add the glitter, but it was not sticking so I took apart the pieces again and mixed new resin with glitter to put the pieces together. I put too much in this process and it did get very globby and gloopy and so there is a lot of bumping and dripping that happened because of that. This kit also comes with a pair of gloves and a mask, both of which I was too excited to look at or use or even think about. This mixture is extremely difficult to wash off your skin, and it smells very strong like chemicals so I would recommend using those protective products. As you can see in the photos above the end result is not exactly the same as the traditional Japanese. Process that uses gold because this is resin and glitter. I think it’s affordable and easy if you want to do something simple but I’m not sure I would use it on some thing I want to drink out of or eat out of. It was good enough for fixing the ceramic bowl I made in high school, but it isn’t fancy like I imagined ... show more

  • Good product
It's a bit tricky to get good results but it's because of the intricate nature of the work not this particular product. The instructions said to wait 24 hours before applying gold powder to make it look more finished. But I only waited an hour because I thought the resin would become completely cured and not absorb the powder, and I am happy with the results. Once I applied the gold powder, it revealed that there are unwanted parts that had resin residue, so I cleaned those parts with a cotton swab dipped in nail polish. All in all, I love the final look and I am this little saucer is getting a second life. ... show more

  • Can be messy but easy to use and sturdy
***this product is not food grade rated because it is epoxy*** I was able to put my childhood teapot back together because of this kit and I’m very grateful. I preferred a cleaner look so I waited for the epoxy to dry and I was able to scrape away the excess. Also wiped away excess while it was still wet and I firmly pushed the pieces together until the epoxy took hold. Be sure to arrange your pieces before you mix anything and make sure everything fits together correctly. Make sure you mix together enough epoxy to do one piece at a time because it dries V E R Y quickly. Remember to take your time! I ended up just missing one piece but I was able to fill in the gap with the epoxy and it did the job. I’m happy to say that this epoxy is water proof but definitely make sure you hand wash whatever it is you’re using this on. Overall a good product and labor of love. ... show more

  • Didn’t work
Did not work. I tried to glue ceramics, left it to cure for over 4 hours, and glue never really dried. I ended up getting gorilla epoxy glue which worked better.

  • Love the idea but it didn’t work for me
It was fun to try it out, but the glue was messy. I think you need to be more skilled with a paint brush to make this work.

  • Practice!
Practice first!! This kit is super awesome, but my first try was really messy, I wish I had tested it a bit more.

  • Fun and pretty repair job
This was a fun way to repair a cracked pot and fairly beginner friendly. The only downside is it’s messy and the epoxy dries fast so you must move quickly.
