  • A Rabbi, a Girl, and her Recliner walk into a bar....
This is NOT a good movie. Rather, it is ridiculous and horrible in the best possible way. We had a bottle of wine, gave it the MST3K treatment, and had a bunch of laughs, so it gets 5 stars for that.

  • One of those movies you can't believe you're watching..
I don't know what possessed me to watch this film, or maybe it was the recliner, either way it was so unbelievably stupid it was hilarious. I predicted every moment of it and to my surprise, I was right! I had to give it 5 stars for predictability, great cinematography, hilarious writing and being original. The acting was that of an 80's horror slasher and shockingly it kept my interest. It reminded me of Jack Frost (that killer snowman) only the villain was a recliner with a cool personality. I won't give too much away, but this is one of those movies where you won't get 1 1/2 hours of your life back, you'll wonder why you watched it in the first place, why the characters were so dumb, then wonder why anyone would consider this scary at all. It's probably one of the funniest movies I've seen in ages trying to keep a straight face the entire time. If you're bored, want something new/original and don't expect an A+ film..this movie will satisfy your craving for cheesiness, gore and wit. I'd have to say it's a classic after watching it and deserves an award for being one of the stupidest films ever created! Good gruesome fun! ... show more

  • Good Back Story movie - minus the killer couch
if this story wraped around another central character other than this Rediculous Recliner!! it may have been a really cool little B-Movie? the other characters were good. the Beautiful Dancer & her Hippie friend the Old Man who could have visions of her back story which was also good. And when it is supposed to be more funny than scary, it didnt get more than Scoff out of me! it's the Recliner w. Button Eyes who follows people or change positions alot then ultimatly chases you down and kills you.. It is the worst ever and really ruined the movie. ... show more

  • OK I was hesitant to watch this..... LOLOL
Just the title alone tells me it was a complete nonsense. However, I endured it to the very last minute.... and I gave in... it wasn't horrible. But it was "tolerable".... It is a lot better than many B Movies made, I have seen worse. This isn't so bad... might have to re-watch it again because it is somewhat hard to follow. But I like the cinematography and the cheap special FX. Overall I think it is a watchable English B movie ,,, script and talent plus directing came as intelligent. Granted there are some scenes that should not have been, but the movie redeems itself. Three stars. If the killer would've been the oven....or the refrigerator, probably would get lesser. I would've chosen the killer as the guitar or the cell phone.... ... show more

  • So ridiculous... so good!
I just saw one of the most ridiculous movies and I’m surprised I didn’t know about it till now. The movie is exactly how the title sounds. It’s about a sofa that kills. No, I’m not kidding. Although it’s actually a recliner that kills, but I guess calling it ‘Killer Recliner’ wouldn’t be as cool as saying, I just saw ‘Killer Sofa’. The acting was terrible, but the plot itself was pretty good. It had a descent story for the most part with some funny kills. You can actually see the sofa stand up in one scene and it has eyes like a person. I know it sounds ridiculous, but that is the point. It was in the comedy horror section which makes sense. The trailer is better than the movie, but after I saw it I had to watch it. There is one scene where this woman is laying on the couch and it was almost like a WTF am I watching moment, but I couldn’t turn away. You ever start a movie and as you’re watching it you’re thinking, “Why am I watching this? This is horrible. I have to see how it plays out and ends”. That was me as I watched it. The ending could have been better as it was all over the place, but yeah 2/3rd of the movie I was into it. It’s not long so it didn’t drag. If anyone has Amazon Prime and would like to stream this gem it’s there. Imagine Chucky if someone decided to posses a recliner and there ya go. I only wish they could have shown more of the actual kills in full motion. I think it would have been more hilarious. ... show more

  • Popcorn fluff entertainment that also weirdly has solid thematic structure
I needed something mindless and fun, and this seemed right up my alley. Caveat: I am the sort of person who thoroughly enjoyed "Killer Klowns from Outer Space" and "The Meg". So a movie about an armchair that kills people totally called to me. What surprised me was the weirdly solid themes of love and seeking reciprocation - be it the grandpa who seeks acknowledgement from his own voodoo daddy, the lady cop who pines over her coworker, who first laments the end of his marriage and then falls into obsession with the vic, and the victim, who just wants everyone to stop getting weirdly obsessed with her to the point she seeks companionship in a boyfriend that her best friend Maxxie declares is gay several times...there's a lot of symbolism about the degrees to which humans will strive and struggle for recognition and appreciation. If, y'know, you want to break out your film theory texts and add some meaning to the chaos. I genuinely laughed out loud several times during this movie - there was so much delightful absurdity that caught me off guard. Yes, it's not the greatest acting or the most dazzling VFX - but that's ok, because it's entirely entertaining. Go into it with the right expectations, and you'll have a blast. ... show more

  • Gutsy but never good
Ever watch a movie that's so disjointed it felt like the screenwriter was writing it when his mind wondered to shiny lights nearby or the comfortable socks he might have been wearing and he thought, "There's an idea!"? Yeah, that's this movie. The main character has a seemingly magic ability to make most people fall in love with her and uses it to latch onto the biggest morons in the UK and, now, she has to worry about a SOFA possessed by a killer being infatuated with her too. That's the plot. I'm not making this up. Points for originality and blindly sticking to the premise (think of a 90 minute movie that could sum its motivation up with " Screw it!") but little else. ... show more
