Build Quality & "Hardware" The Case: As a handyman, I look at the "toolbox" first. This comes in a hard-shell train case. It’s plastic, but it’s durable enough to survive a drop on a tile floor. The latches are simple enough for a 4-year-old to operate without help, which is a win for "independent play." The Mirror: They used a child-safe mirror (acrylic/polished film) rather than glass. It’s a bit warped (think funhouse mirror), but it won't shatter into dangerous shards if the bag gets kicked across the room. The Tools: The brushes are actually decent. They aren’t the "scratchy plastic" kind you see in cheap dollar-store kits; they have soft bristles that won't irritate their skin or fall apart after one use. Maintenance & Clean-Up (The "Handyman" Test) The biggest fear for any parent is a "permanent" purple stain on the beige rug or the white walls. Washability: This is where the product shines. It is water-soluble. In my testing, the pigments (blush, eyeshadow) come off skin with a simple baby wipe. For surfaces, a damp cloth with a little dish soap handles most spills on non-porous surfaces. Nail Polish: It’s a peel-off formula. You don’t need toxic acetone or paint thinner to get it off. Once it dries, you just pick at the edge and it comes off in one piece. Pro-tip: If they get it on the hardwood, let it dry first and then peel it up—don't rub it while it's wet. The Verdict As a Dad, I like that it keeps them occupied for an hour and doesn't require a professional cleaning crew afterward. As a Handyman, I appreciate the decent quality of the storage case—it prevents the "junk drawer" effect by giving every brush a dedicated slot. It’s a high-value gift for the 3-to-8-year-old range.
