I recently decided to create a study area under my little girl’s loft bed so she could have a dedicated space for virtual learning in the fall. My husband and I started searching for desks that would fit this space and this was the only desk that fit the space, while also offering a stylish design and drawers / cabinets to place her paperwork and computer. After reading the reviews on this desk, I was very hesitant to purchase it. The photos were littered with broken chairs, size issues, etc. I didn’t want to buy a piece of junk and there weren’t many people cheering this desk on. We finally decided that we could just return it if it were junk, but give it a try since it met all our criteria. I want to say that I was downright angry at the negatives said about this desk once it was assembled. It is sturdy, has ample storage space and a great design. I nearly missed out on the perfect purchase if I hadn’t taken the risk and bought it. My daughter is seven (and she’s tall for her age). This desk fits her perfectly. It isn’t just for tiny toddlers. Yes, it is made of pressed wood. I’m traditionally a fan of investing in real wood, but this desk still looks sharp without spending $500 - $1000 more to get a real wood desk for a child. (Yes, we did price similar desks at mid to high-end retail stores. That was the price jump in case you need “real wood.”) My daughter isn’t CEO of a company (yet) and doesn’t need luxury furniture to impress clients. She needed a cute desk that was sturdy and allowed her to store her school work and study without distraction. This desk won hands down. I bought this desk for my 6 year old to use as a vanity and for homework as she gets older. I was a little irritated with the packaging. The box was damaged when I received it (not the sellers fault). The parts inside were pretty dusty/dirty. Maybe from the damaged packaging? The seat of the chair also had some significant splintering of the wood on the bottom. Luckily you can't see it from the top. After wiping everything down and assembling the desk, I am very happy with it. It is the perfect size for my daughter and there is plenty of room to do homework as she gets older. The handle for the drawer was missing in the pictures (again, likely from the damage during shipping), but customer service was great and I was able to order a replacement handle from their website free of charge. its cheap made so some parts dont line up as should, but nothing was to far off, instructions not clear so for first timers study them closely, i have learned how to read them as ive put many of this cheap stuff together,

The desk was delivered yesterday. My hubby put it together rather quickly. Nothing came damaged. The only problem during putting it together was the chair, but we were able to fix it. I will still keep my eye on the chair. My 7 year old loves it! It’s a perfect size desk for her and i love that it’s not big and bulky. We were able to stick it into a corner and it fit perfectly. I am satisfied with the desks dm chair set overall. I would recommend it. Besides it’s hard to find desk anywhere since a lot of kids will be doing virtual learning. UPDATE!! 2nd day of school and the chair broke! Uhhm literally the second day of using this chair! 2 years later: The desk is still in good condition, we were able to fix the chair with some wood glue it held up for a while, it broke some time earlier this year and couldn’t be fixed again. I would strongly suggest to stay away from this or any kids kraft furniture for a simple reason that you will NOT get the required support if you received damaged / scratched or missing parts . This is particle board and very likely to get scratched / break during transit. Packaging wasn't great with very less material to protect different piece to scratch against other. My Story : I bought Amazon warehouse deal that clearly said "Slight imperfections and minor cosmetic issues" so I was expecting it to have some scratches etc. However I did not expect pieces of furniture to be missing and I found it only after spending significant time and effort assembling it. Chair pieces are missing so no chair for me. THIS IS IMPORTANT if you are buying a new one as well : TABLE SQUEAKS , DRAWER FALLS DOWN, PAINT ON THE TABLE PEELS OFF. I did contact amazon and was suggested to contact manufacturer and request for missing pieces. Manufacturer agreed to send the missing pieces BUT did not have the parts in inventory and has no idea when these parts will be in stock. However they created an order to send out those parts whenever available. IT NOT MORE THAN 4 weeks and I am still waiting. Every time I contact them they say they don't know when it will be in stock. So NEVER expect help from KidsKraft. Contacted amazon again after waiting for long time and at this point they agreed to allow me to return it. However returning this means again spend all the time and effort to disassemble it. Buy a box and then drop this heavy piece of crap to UPS. So I have decided against it and made my peace with loosing the money. I lost my money hope you don't. I will try upload pictures and videos showing the defect if amazon lets this review display. ... show more
