Description

Kidde Smoke Detector, Hardwired Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup, Front-Load Battery Door, Test-Silence Button, model i12060A, is an AC/DC powered, ionization smoke alarm that operates on a 120V power source. In the event of a power failure, the Kidde fire alarm comes equipped with a 9V battery backup. Using ionization sensing technology, the wired smoke alarm detects invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms. Kidde strongly recommends that both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to help ensure maximum detection of the various types of fire that can occur within the home. Designed to be easy to install, this Kidde smoke detector includes a pre-stripped wiring harness with easy-off cap. The front battery door makes it simple to replace the smoke alarm's battery backup without the need to remove the alarm from the mounting bracket. Red LEDs indicate 4 modes of operation: Standby Mode - flashes every 40 seconds to indicate the smoke alarm is operating properly; Alarm Mode - alarm senses products of combustion; Alarm Memory - to indicate the alarm has been activated; and Hush mode - silences the alarm for approximately 7 minutes. Green LED indicates AC power. Kidde Hardwired Smoke Detector model i12060A is also available in a two-pack, four-pack, and six-piece bulk pack for contractors and property owners who need an alarm for every room. UL Certified with a 10-year limited warranty. Meets requirements of UL217, NFPA72, The State of California Fire Marshal, NFPA 101, FHA, & HUD.

The 9 volt battery backup compartment is located on the front with a simple push the compartment opens and battery is exposed for easy replacement. Bought this to replace an ancient (late 80s) smoke detector made by a company I believe is defunct and which I don't think was up to code due to not having a battery backup. Due to the age of the previous SD, everything had to be replaced but the two mounting screws. Installation was not hard. Just keep in mind that no mounting screws or wire nuts are included, and it's not a bad idea to wipe the space where the wires are stuffed with a dry cloth or paper towel while you're doing the work since how often does that space get cleaned? I chose this particular model due to the backup battery compartment being on the bottom of the unit, accessible without unscrewing anything. Why aren't they all designed that way? So far it has worked well, and I'm hoping it'll be another decade before it has to be replaced. ... show more

Great alarm. Loud, VERY sensitive. Only issue is anytime there is ANY smoke from cooking, the alarm will go off. But I am happy it is that sensitive.

Needed to replace the old built in smoke detectors. I like these because of battery backup. Really easy to install. If you don’t know anything about electrical, please get someone who does know. These are set up on a system and work together. Read the instructions, pay close attention to them. Red wire is not used all the time. Works well, is more than plenty loud, and bonus was it fit our old casing (same brand) so no fuss putting in. *This is an item I feel that backing should be universal as to not make it harder on people to swap old one out and potentially save their life. All too often do I hear people’s smoke detectors chirping. Please people, change your batteries and if that doesn’t work, swap out your detector for a new one! $4 (at most) for a new battery and average $16 for a new detector is worth your life. ❤️ ... show more
