Description

The Kidde Smoke Detector, 10-Year Battery with LED Indicators & Replacement Alerts, model i9010, is a basic smoke detector that uses ionization sensor technology to detect invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms. When smoke or fire is detected, an 85-decibel alarm will sound. The Kidde Smoke Detector is powered by a 10-year lithium battery that requires no wiring, never needs replacing, plus coverage during a power failure. A solid green LED indicates that the alarm is receiving power and a red LED indicates that the smoke detector is sensing smoke or fire. A test-hush button allows you to test the battery operations as well as silence nuisance alarms that may occur from cooking or shower steam. The Kidde Smoke Detector will chirp when it's time to replace the battery. Install a smoke detector & carbon monoxide detector on every level of your home and near bedrooms to help keep your family safe from fire & poisonous gas. UL Certified with a 10-year limited manufacturer's warranty. Meets requirements of UL 217, NFPA72 (chapter 11 2002 edition), NFPA101 (One and two-family dwellings), and Federal Housing Authority (FHA).

  • Easy install, competitive price. Well known manufacturer.
Size: 1 Pack Style: 9th Edition Pattern Name: Kidde DETECT
We were getting tired of false-alarm smoke detectors and having them all sing out in unison. Also, getting tired of replacing expensive 9v batteries each year for the 7 of them. This smoke detector has a 10 year battery, loud alarm and easy installation. We opted for the battery only model and tucked the low-voltage wires away underneath the mounting brackets. If the brackets aren't drilled for your wiring box dimensions, they're easily modified with a drill using a small drill bit to drill guide holes and then expanded in diameter with a larger bit to the size needed. Once the base plate is mounted, just turn the detector on the base a quarter turn. The battery is activated with a chirp. A quick button test to make sure it's active. That's it. I'm not a wiz at the mechanics, but the advertisement says that this model reduces false alarms by using traditional as well as visual tech in order to determine an actual fire or smoke danger. So... set it and forget it (with whatever test schedule is right for you) and don't worry about them again until 2035! ... show more

  • Excellent

Well, my old smoke detector died, and my wife ordered this one. It looks good. Ten year battery life is a bit amazing to me. It was easy to install (I think. My wife actually did it while I was away, and that's what she says) It self-tests as working fine. I am quite pleased with this product.

Great 👀, good product. Should you loose power, these still work, no more 9 volt batteries to keep checking.

  • Just a smoke detector
Size: 1 Pack Style: 9th Edition Pattern Name: Kidde DETECT
We have seven hard-wired smoke detectors in our house, but interestingly, the home builders did not install a detector near our basement appliances (washer and dryer, furnace, water softener, air exchange unit, etc.). If one of these appliances were to catch fire, or a fire happened to start in that region of the house, there would be considerable damage before one of the other detectors in the house could let us know that smoke was detected. But since our budget could afford the cost of an electrician to come to the house and hardwire in an eighth detector, we went with this 10-year battery smoke detector. The green light on the front doesn't work, but when I push the test button, the red light illuminates immediately and an ear-piercing alarm begins to sound, so I know the unit is working. So this is why I give this unit 4-stars rather than 5. And if it fails before the 10-years, I'll come back and lower this from 4 stars to a 2 or 3. ... show more

  • Factory Defective Unit, Replaced Under Warranty
Size: 3 Pack Style: 9th Edition Pattern Name: Kidde DETECT
1 of the 3 is already defective after 2 months, it started chirping at 4am giving my dog severe panic attacks, which was the whole reason I bought it so that I wouldn't get low battery alerts all the time. EDIT: Kidde warranty is amazing, after calling them they are mailing a replacement with no hassle. ... show more

Easy to install. Says the battery will last ten years. I’m 79 so I think I won’t have to replace it.

  • P4010LDCS-W Smoke Detector - my experience log
I will keep a log here as to how they are working and update it on any issues and suggestions. Due to some reviewers having issues, I am following the directions EXACTLY and paying close attention to ALL the notes and limits. _________________________________________________________________________ --> Top 3 safety features for me are: 1) Inter-connectivity between alarms (sleeping on 2nd story, I need to know asap if the basement detector goes off.) 2) Ten-year battery - since this old house is not wired for smoke alarms. (Smoke alarms often get deactivated when regular-type batteries get removed due to low-battery chirps.) 3) Dual sensor (Unfortunately, no battery-powered units are made with inter-connectivity AND dual sensor... so I chose the interconnected feature over the dual sensor.) ________________________________________________________________________ SD = Smoke Detector --> P4010LDCS-W Specs: DC powered by non-replaceable 10-yr battery (not connected to home power), photoelectric type sensor, escape light, wireless interconnected on their own SD network (not on WiFi) --> WiFi: You cannot directly connect THESE units to WiFi/Kidde app, but indirectly you CAN do it by installing the following two detectors (both AC powered) to act as "go-betweens." 1) P4010ACS-W (connects to both the P4010LDCS-W network and also the P4010ACS-WF) 2) P4010ACS-WF (then connects to WiFi. "WF" stands for WiFi.) --> _________ 11-16-23: Bought 12 of these smoke detectors 11-21-23: Activated (turned on) and installed all 12 units in mother's house on 3 different levels. 11-26-23: Two detectors dropped off (became wirelessly disconnected from) the SD network last night (disconnected from the other units). They make what sounds like a single "chirp" sound every 30 sec with amber light every 5 sec. (User guide says they make a "chime" along with the light for this issue. Chime sound is supposed to be for a fault/error... so I guess my idea of a "chime" is different. Using the instructions, I was able to reconnect the 2 SD's to the others. 12-11-23: False alarm - Smoke alarm(s) went off today for no reason. Lucky that is was at daytime. 2-13-24: One or two detectors started doing a "sonar" sound. I was not nearby so neighbor had to check it out for my mother... I think one or two lost connection with the rest for no apparent reason. He took them down and put them in the garage for now so they wouldn't drive her crazy. I will have to reinstall and reconnect them when I'm there in a month. 3-9-24: 4 detectors fell off the detector network. Neighbor came over and didn't know how to shut off beeping. Took them down and left outside in garage. Why do these things drop off the detector network suddenly after working fine for several months??? Brother was able to reconnect 3 of the 4 a week later. ______ .... definitely some issues, but... it's still the best solution out there for now so I'm trying to be optimistic that they will start staying on the network. To be clear, they continue to test and detect smoke just fine... some just lose contact with each other (fall "offline" the detector network) from time to time, so if an "offline" detector senses smoke, it WILL still alarm, but it won't make the other detectors start alarming. ... show more
