Installation was easy, read the provided instructions. Turned off Smoke Detector AC power breaker in your fuse/breaker box, removed the old (circa 2016). Devices they made them 8 years before starting to false alarm when cooking anything…. I opened the battery compartment for each New device and using a sharpie marker dated the provided battery while in place, hint remove the battery, 1-19-25 and used a pen to mark install date on the attached label on outside edge of the device. Also took pics of the manufacture date on device base for our house records. Battery life could be as long as 5 years (my new devices were manufactured 5-28-2024) by dating batteries lets you track life. Leave the Yellow Battery activation strip in place it hangs out of the battery door/compartment The installation of each device was easy using existing mounting plates and mine had triangle shape plug connectors. If your replacing older Flat prong plug type Kidde offers an adapter plug to todays triangle shape plug. After installation of the smoke detector devices. Turn power breaker back on. The devices will all power up and report by Chirping the low. No battery signal. Go to each device and Pull the Yellow Activate battery strip firmly. After all yellow strips are pulled the chirping will cease. The Green LED on devices will be lit. I’m legally blind and completed the easy installation. ... show more

I needed to replace one smoke detector that failed (false alarms) after two years; got the 4-pack in case there are more early failures. Knocked off 1 star in the rating because the OEM boxes were somewhat beat up, but no product damage. I would buy this again, easy installation.
