  • Great for cleaning Keurig
Style: Kit
I have tried other options for cleaning which are cheaper but require a lot of rinse cycles and I don't know if it works as well as this. I keep coming back to this because it's easy and made for Keurig even though it may not be the cheapest solution. I do taste a difference in the coffee when I keep the machine clean and descaled. ... show more

  • Keep in Mind that Proper Maintenance is Sooo Important
Style: Kit
I used this product to keep my machine in good shape because I am a proud coffee addict and I only drink the BEST. Here is the secret for great coffee! 1. Use Only Pods… Pods are the freshest you can get as ea cup is freshly brewed. It doesn’t matter if your Pods are fancy $5 ea or .25cents. 2. I prefer a Keurig machine - I always insist on the newest most available model (because I don’t know how to throw perfectly good money out the window as I am a very sick individual) 3. Purified Drinking Water ONLY. Not Distilled which has no minerals at all & as such is often wrongly recognized by machine as having an empty tank; spring water is often as contaminated as city water (depending where it comes from) & reverse osmosis is often not THAT Much clearer from toxins, metals, etc as any other water- it all depends on what you start with. 4. MAINTENANCE IS KEY: dirty appliances and other integral items mean bitter coffee. Trick is you to pay attention to how much coffee you are consuming and when your machine reaches its breaking point. I drink approx 8 cups a day, my husband, 2. That takes a toll on a non commercial machine. I find that in order to keep my coffee from becoming bitter quickly I need to do the following: A. Every morning run 4 cups of hot water into an empty cup (no pod) to remove all the loose coffee grounds and yellow/brown water accumulated from day before. Every couple of days I may run a rinse pod through and another 4oz of clear water afterwards. B. Most importantly is the changing of the water filters. Although the box states that a pack of six last 12 months, if you are going to make 8-10 pods a day, I can guarantee you after 2, maybe 3 weeks the coffee will be really bitter. At that point changing the filter fixes the problem. Thus a box of 6 last me approximately 3-4 months. Same with descaling. Keurig suggests descaling every 3 months, I do so every month… I also take the machine, unplug it of course and run the top portion under the faucet.. You will not BELIEVE how many grinds are in there (no soap though.. last thing you want is soap you can’t get out.. BUT REMOVE EVERY REMOVABLE ITEM AND DO THE SOAP AND WATER BIT EVERY MONTH - also remove grounds with a safety pin.. there are a number of great videos out there who show you step by step how to do this. Lastly I recommend soaking your filters in hot water for 8-10min by putting it in a plastic cup (disposable) filling it w hot water and putting another cup halfway full on top so filter stays soaking under water (THAT is a Sherri original)! I next take the filter, put it in one of the empty cups and continuously run water on it from the sink for 2 minutes to rinse off the remaining carbon. Then you get the dubious pleasure of putting your coffee machine back together.. In the words of Keurig, “Enjoy!” ... show more

  • FIRST TIME PURCHASE
Style: Kit
I never decaled my KEURIG COFFEE MAKER before now; but, on a whim, I updated my fully functioning KEURIG with a KEURIG "K-ICE". The K-ICE has a descaling reminder that lights every 250 uses. Thanks KEURIG. There are several brands of available descale, filters, and cleaning cups; but I decided to stick with KEURIG brand for a few cents more. Back space. I have always used KEURIG WATER FILTERS and LONG HANDLE. This is a first for me to descale the COFFEE MAKER and for using the cleaning K-CUP. Well.... The reminder light is extinguished but I can't tell the difference between the taste of coffee made before and after DESCALING. Also, I gave my 7-year old, never decaled KEURIG COFFEE MAKER to a nephew who requested it for his officr; but I used a bottle of DESCALER and a CLEANING CUP to prepare the old KEURIG for pick-up. I recommend the CLEANING CUPS for clearing any residue from hot chocolate K-Cups or any others that contain more than just ground beans. If you're going to do the recommended maintenance, why not KEURIG brand? ... show more

  • Just too expensive for something they expect you to use every month
Style: Kit
I really don't know why this is required (except for a money grab opportunity). It's very expensive to have to replace this every 2 months. I just let the DESCALE light keep blinking, and make my coffee as usual. I had my previous Keurig for almost 10 years, and the descale light never once came on. It seems now it's just programmed to go off every 30 days whether it actually needs it or not. Having said this, it ruined my Keurig slim. After descaling, and having a hard time getting the light to go out, now, about 50% of the time when I attempt to make a cup, just a big blob of water comes out at the start, and the brew cycle ends. I have to pop the chamber up and reseat it, and start the cycle again. A few times I thought I was losing my mind when I started the cycle, walked away and seeing an empty cup on my return. I'm just going to use the old vinegar method if I feel the quality of my brewed cup has decreased. It's a heck of a lot cheaper. ... show more
