Keurig Descaling Solution is an important step to cleaning and caring for your Keurig coffee maker. When used every 3 months, or as often needed, Keurig Descaling Solution safely and effectively cleanses and removes mineral buildup from inside your coffee maker which can affect brewer performance, taste, and quality of your beverages. An important step of your Keurig coffee maker maintenance routine, Keurig Descaling Solution keeps your coffee maker clean, performing at its peak, and beverages tasting their best. Keurig Descaling Solution is the only Keurig recommended cleaning solution to be used with all Keurig coffee makers. Descaling is an important process that cleans the inside of your coffee maker. To preserve longevity of your coffee maker, we recommend using Keurig Descaling Solution every 3 months or as often as needed (depending on the mineral content of your water, you may need to descale more frequently). Keurig Descaling solution is the best for cleaning the scale off the inside of your brewer and keeping it running in top shape. I have a Keurig 2.0 brewer and this keeps it clean and fresh for my beverages. Regular use of this product will keep calcium deposits to a minimum and is essential for the maintenance of the heating element. The procedure I use is as follows: This applies to K-Cup, Vue, Rivo, and Keurig 2.0 brewers. 1. Empty the water reservoir and remove the filter (if applicable). Turn the brewer off by holding the power button. 2. Put the whole bottle in the reservoir. 3. Turn the brewer on and put a large mug on the drip plate. 4. Run the solution through the brewer and discard the liquid in the sink until the brewer displays "add water". 5. Leave the brewer on and allow the solution to sit in the lines for 30 minutes. 6. Remove the water reservoir and thoroughly rinse it out in the sink. Then fill it with fresh water and run three tanks of fresh water through the machine. This ensures that all of the solution is washed out of the lines. Then all you have to do is replace the filter if you removed it earlier and brew your favorite K-cup. There is a section on the directions on the bottle that talks about a "foam" coming out of the brewer in the case of heavily scaled machines, but I have not personally experienced this. If your Keurig is older and you have never descaled it you may see this but I normally run the descaling solution through my machine about once every 3-4 months. You will be happy with the performance of your brewer after doing this and it can make an old machine run like brand new!! I highly recommend it! ... show more

  • Official Descaling Solution for Keurig Makers
I have a Keurig 2.0 that reminds me via the display that it's time to descale, and this is the stuff to do it. (More on that later.) Allthough Keurig claims that it's easy -- and it sort of is -- it is time-consuming to follow the directions found under the label. Each kind of brewer has different directions. You have to fill your tank with one bottle of the descaling solution and one bottle of fresh water. You run it through a few times, then let it sit for 30 minutes before you begin the flushing sequence. The directions say to do the "cleaning brew" (clean water flushing) at least TWELVE times. I gave up after six, and everything tasted fine. I'm not sure that you have to use this Keurig brand descaling solution, though. You could probably get the same results with 14 ounces of white vingear and 14 ounces of water, following the directions on the Keurig site for your particular brewer. The biggest advantage of using this, though, is that it doesn't have that sharp smell that vinegar does. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann ... show more

  • Vinegar works great. But if you have a clogged pot... this stuff actually worked great.
I admit - I'm a vinegar cleaner. I use Vinegar in my Cuisinart machine monthly, and I don't have a problem. BUT - I bought a Cuisinart for my parents. My mom is a clean freak, so I didn't expect the coffee pot to get so dirty. But the filter holder broke, and Amazon doesn't sell them. Cuisinart has them backordered. So she had several months of scale built up in the machine, and it took several minutes to pull in enough water to brew a cup. My mom also cleans with vinegar. But with this much buildup, the vinegar didn't clean out the tubes very well. I paid $12.99 for this and thought it would allow me to clean my pot and hers for a while. Didn't realize you had to use it all in one shot! But I have to admit - it cleaned up the tubes just fine, and now it pulls water though like it did when it was brand new. The key to descaling - no matter what method you use - is to turn OFF the auto-off timer and let the stuff soak in the machine for a few hours. Cuisinart recommends 4, but your mileage may vary. So clean with vinegar, let it soak while you go to work, and flush it out when you get home. Once a month and you will not have a problem. BUT IF YOUR PARENTS/SPOUSE/FRIEND does not do this to their machine and you are called in to the rescue, this stuff will do the trick. ... show more

  • Does the job
Anyone who owns a Keurig knows they can collect 'scale' or minerals on their innards; specifically on the narrow nozzles. This descaler is what you need to clear that off. It takes a bit of time and attention (due to multiple fill/empty cycles to use it), but it does the job. Before I knew about this, we had a Keurig that became completely blocked after a couple years of fairly regular use (home use, so 2-5 cups of tea per day) - I was wondering if we would have to ditch it and get a replacement. A bit of searching located a complicated solution (basically take the Keurig apart and soak/clean the relevant parts) - which helped but only temporarily. However, the same search had brought up reviews of this descaler, so I had ordered it as a backup. By the time it arrived, we knew the take-apart solution wasn't what we needed long-term (besides being a pain to do!). So I crossed my fingers, use the descaler - and voila, fully working Keurig once again! Color me a fully satisfied customer (with the caveat that it DOES take time and a bit of care to use). ... show more

  • Brown Goo Isn't Good For You.
I bought it. Used it as the instructions stated. Everything appears to be working fine. We'll see how long it lasts. One thing I did notice is, after running 14 cups of hot water through the machine to rinse out the solution, I wiped down the underside of outlet where the coffee is dispensed into the cup. Tons of brown goo came off on the towel! Wow! It kept draining. After getting rid of the goo, I ran 2 cups of hot water back through the machine. Instead of the steady slow stream draining into the cup, the water was launching in 4 solid mini-streams! Good grief! A lot of force was behind it. Hope I didn't damage something by wiping off that drain hole, or the area around it (I didn't touch the pins with the towel, so they should be okay.) ... show more
