  • Functional and a good value
I bought this FTG blade to use as a quick setup for cutting narrower dados and grooves, and for ripping large quantities of stock for larger projects. So much faster than hauling out and stacking my dado set for smaller jobs. It has proven to be a very good value for the asking price. This blade is sharp and heavy with zero wobble. It produces clean, flat bottoms on grooves and dados, and rips smoothly and cleanly. You need to slow down when cutting dados to avoid tear out, but the results are good. I work in both hard and soft woods, and find it to be up to the task. I have been using it for 3 months, and it is still plenty sharp. It looks like it could be resharpened a few times if necessary, but be aware that it would void the warranty if you are concerned about that. I would not hesitate to but this blade again. ... show more

  • This is my go-to-blade!
I have Ridge Carbide and Forrest blades which are very good blades but the Kempston is my "go to everyday blade". It is the first blade I have had that didn't burn hard maple. I couldn't believe it as this has been a problem in my shop forever and the topic of a lot of discussion with fellow woodworkers. What I liked best? Its the flat tooth blade! I constantly use it to cut dados, grooves and rebates.. It is almost always the blade on the saw and if only have a few dados to cut I use the Kempston and make multiple passes. The dado bottom is so smooth I seldom have to run a shoulder plane down it to get a flat bottom. I have a Sawstop table saw so putting on a dado blade is a real pain. I am on my third Kempston now and have recommended this blade to many fellow woodworkers and all have been very pleased. Maybe that's why the price keeps going up (LOL) but is still a great product at a great price! ... show more

  • Excellent
I am a DYS, for years I bought blades on the very low end thinking I was saving money, except, they didn't stay sharp for long. I Decided to spend a little more. This blade keeps on working and working, stays sharp. Well worth the money!

  • Good blade, great price
Always used a higher end combo blade for ripping with good results (never thicker than 6/4 boards though). Needed a blade that cut flat bottom groves and I was ripping a lot of boards for a large rail and stile project so figured maybe kill two birds without spending too much. Does an excellent job with groves, which I believe is essentially a ripping action. For ripping, stock feed rate is faster and no burning. Better than high end (price) combo blade. It sings, literally and loudly. Keeps your attention more so than the quiet hum of a heavy cross cut blade. I was always a single combo blade guy for money and convenience, but no reason not to have a dedicated rip blade for this price. UPDATE: blade finally beginning to dull. Ordered a new one and checked purchase date. Blade did its job for over 3 years. Ripped a lot of wood and cut a lot of groves. Mostly hard maple, oak, cherry and mahogany. Outstanding value. ... show more

  • Leaves nice flat bottoms.
Very happy with purchase, leaves nice flat groves. A full 1/8 kerf . My saw is an older craftsman,so it’s a little under powered but cuts clean as long as I feed stock slowly. For the price of this blade I’m very happy with it.

  • Excellent blade
Bought for making shaker cabinet doors. Very true, accurate and clean cut. 1/4" kerf. Did a fantastic job on the stiles and rails. Highly recommend.

  • Thick carbide, perfectly flat cut, extremely happy.
I was extremely hesitant to purchase such a cheap flat tooth blade. I need it to create dados and box joints with a single blade. It created PERFECTLY flat bottom on the dados I made as a test in some plywood... (as long as there's no sawdust in the way creating an uneven surface for the wood to rest on obviously) I mean PERFECT... In Plywood!!! I didn't even need to sand and couldn't tell it was made in multiple passes. It's advertised as a RIP cut blade, but it didn't create any tearout in the plywood I cut, so I'm very very happy with it's performance. The carbide on it is VERY thick, twice as thick as my DeWalt blade. I am extremely surprised at how well it works. I will update if I find anything I don't like about it once I use it on a full project. Can't believe the value of this for the money. ... show more

  • Not Heavy Duty
This is an acceptable blade for cutting softwoods and detail work. For an heavy duty ripping of hardwoods this blade is not ideal. you can feel the blade swim trying to get through 1 1/2" or thicker.
