8/29/2023 Update: Techjayse contacted me 8/18 (the day after this review was posted) to ask if they could send replacements. They shipped the replacements 8/24. I received them yesterday 8/28. The new ones all work easily but 3/8" rope will still slip if pulled hard by hand. I raised the rating from 3 to 4 stars because they were responsive and backed their sale and said they were going to improve quality control and "consider future product upgrades" (I suggested that they make a minor change to the design so it would grip 3/8" rope better). The "Kemimoto Boat Fender Clips" seem durable but when pulled slipped on each type of 3/8” rope I tried. They will hold a bumper in place with 3/8” line but I would check them often. They probably work on heavier rope but I don’t have any. Two of the 4 were VERY hard to adjust until I bent the smooth pin out a little bit (less than a 32”). I think the pin was not straight (picture). They are made of aluminum so they may scratch softer materials like wood or gel coat. Note: you can thread the rope sideways and it will hold 1/4" or 3/8 rope securely (picture). ... show more

    • Not as quick or easy as I had hoped
I like the idea of these as it is important to be able to quickly adjust your fenders when pulling up to a dock. My first issue is that they don't pull apart as easily as they should - at least 2 out of the 4 didn't. When you back off the wing nut all the way, I couldn't even pull the 2 sides apart far enough for a 3/8 line to fit in, never mind something thicker. If I worked at it side to side, after a few minutes I was able to finally jam a 3/8 line in there. When tightened all the way down, line was tight, but not completely locked. Then, to adjust, once you have the loop set, you need to unscrew wingnut, work it loose enough again, and set to your desired length. Unless you keep putting it back on cleat or rail, you don't know if you have the correct length, and you may have to start over again. Finally, while the material is very nice looking, much nicer than the plastic ones I have, it is much more likely to mar the finish on my boat. And, if it flips around, there are nasty looking metal points sticking out (pin and bolt) that could really wreak havoc. In the right situation this wouldn't even be an issue, but on my boat it is. Hi! Everytime I come up onto a new dock or vessel, I need to adjust the lines for my fenders. These make the process so much quicker and easier. Often times we need to toss fenders out and quickly adjust as time is of the essence. These adjust fast. And there’s not much training involved to folks who are newer to boating. Simply loosen the bolt and raise or lower the lines. Easy peasy. They are well made and will last many years even in a salty environment. The clips are sturdy and well made, they stay in position and hold my boat's bumpers well. The only reason I subtracted a star is that the material it is made of is hard enough that I had some concern of it scuffing the gel coat of the boat.
