While it’s nice it has MPE support the actual quality of the playing surface is so budget you’d be better buying literally any normal midi controller without it. You’ll get the same experience as MPE is downright unusable on this and likely be able to get a device with more keys or pads with a better feel ... show more

MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) is a technology that allows you to control multiple dynamic aspects of the instrument you are playing (compared to a traditional keyboard). For example, I use this keyboard to play software that models a saxophone. On a traditional keyboard, I could strike the key harder or softer to play the sax note louder or softer. On this MPE keyboard, I can also wiggle my finger left to right (while pressing the key) to add vibrato. I can slide my finger up the key to add "growl" to the sax note too. I have played this in live settings and been accused of using a recording of a sax - that's how realistic it can sound. It takes some time and experimentation to configure things so that they work properly for the instrument you are trying to play (settings on the K-Board and settings within the software / app). Playing an MPE instrument also has a bit of a learning curve. Most of the other MPE options are MUCH more expensive than this one (e.g. 10 times more expensive - no joke). This is a wonderful option to try MPE without having to spend big $$$. For me, it has been all that I need. I have taken away 1 star because the other reviewer is correct - the pitch bend "pad" doesn't work properly. ... show more
