  • Comfortable and well made
Color: Original Tie Dye Size: 9
I purchased 4 pairs of Keen Women’s size 9 closed toe sandals to compare. I chose the SOLR HighPerformance Sport Closed Toe Water Sandal, Black/Steel Grey, the Newport Retro-w Sport Sandal, Original tie dye, the Venice H2 Sandal, Black/Neutral Gray and the Ravine H2 Black/ Dawn Pink. I am planning a vacation trip to Portugal and I wanted to be able to reduce the number of shoes I planned on packing. I have a pair of Keen’s hiking boots and I already know how much I like them. I wanted something that would stand up as well as a hiking boot but weigh less like a tennis shoe for a lot of walking. I wanted something that I could wear to the beach and get in the water. I wanted something that was casual and might go with some of my summer dresses. Finally I was hoping that if the shoe was water proof it might also serve as a shower shoe. So to recap, I am looking for one shoe to rule them all, hiking boots, tennis shoes, sandals, water shoes, shower shoes and a casual summer dress shoe. I know it is a tall order but just think of how much room I will save in my bag. An additional constraints that I have that play into my decision are that I have a AAA foot and AAAA heel. The Keen hiking boots I have wear are a little wide and a little short but they were a better fit than any other boot I found which makes me happy. With the boots I can add inserts, with sandals that is not going to be an option. I have also previously broken my ankle in several places and had several operations on it. I do better in a shoe with at least a little higher in the heel than the toe. I can also be sensitive right under the bone on the inside of the ankle. I loved the rainbow color of the tie dye shoe. It was the only model that offered the rainbow. I have to tell you know I wanted the tie dye shoe to be the winner just because of the color. Some of the other models do offer a variety of colors to choose from just not rainbow. I was looking forward to trying on the Ravine H2. It is the only one of the four that has an adjustable heel strap. I have not had a sandal with an adjustable heel but my husband has several pairs of sandals with the adjustable heel and he raves about them. I was hoping that it would help make the shoe fit more securely and not slide around. The adjustable strap did give a good fit on the heel. It was the first shoe I tried on and if it had been the only shoe I tried on I would have loved it. In the end the adjustable strap was one of the main reasons I did not choose it. I was thick and hard. The other 3 models all had very soft and comfortable heel straps. The SOLR Sandal looks like it might be adjustable in the heel but it is not. The Ravine H2 is the only one with an adjustable heel. If this is important to you this is the choice for you. Keep in mind it wasn’t uncomfortable it just wasn’t as comfortable and in the end I did not feel like it offered the benefits I needed over the comfort. The next big thing I was looking for was whether I could secure the shoe enough that it didn’t slip around on my foot. I did wear a pair of extra thin socks when trying them on and I will most likely wear them with socks when out and about but not at the beach. The Ravine H2 and the Venice H2 did not lace up as snuggly as I was wanting on my foot. I think for the average foot they would have been great. The SOLR and the Newport Retro both felt very snug around my foot with a much better ability to lace up. This being said I think that both the Ravine H2 and the Venice H2 have more breathing room but they all are pretty open. In the end the Newport Retro rubbed right on my scar on my ankle that ruled it out immediately. My favorite looking pair was eliminated due to an old injury. Both of the H2 models did not feel snug enough on my feet and the Ravine H2 heel strap was not as comfortable. I have been wearing the SOLR sandal for a couple of days now and they are wonderful. I can loosen up the lacing (elastic) and wear them as slip ons around the house or tighten them up for some real walking. When loosened up they are sure to be very comfortable on a medium size foot and I could see a wide foot being comfortable. There is a lot of stretch in the neoprene type fabric used in the shoes There are several features that I passed over that were present in all of the shoes. Every last one of them was comfortable. I am sure the Newport Retro would be wonderful for everyone without a scar in that particular place. Even though the Ravine H2 was comfortable I just liked the SOLR better. All of the soles had different treads but they all had a ….?micro perforation that is not visible until the sole is bent and then it opens up to provide better flexibility. I looked at the stitching and connection points on all of them and they appear to be really well made. I give them all 5 stars. I hope this helped you so you don’t need to buy four pairs of shoes. All of the models are great picks. ... show more

  • Great for slippery surfaces
Color: Black/Jazzy Size: 7.5
I needed comfortable shoes for hiking to waterfalls and wading to fly fish. I needed something that wouldn't give me blisters (my feet are sensitive) and that would dry quickly. These were perfect. I have had only one other pair of shoes that did as good of a job and these were better. Great grip on bottom for slippery rocks, foot didn't slide around, good support. Buy a LARGER size than you normally wear. ... show more

  • Love those Keens!
Color: Original Tie Dye Size: 8
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I love Keens! This is my favorite style. My last pair lasted 11 years and I’m still wearing them! The fit was good with sizing up 1/2 size. Love the tie dye look . Fun for every day use.

  • Wanted to love these, but too heavy. Includes a weight comparison of styles!
Color: Original Tie Dye Size: 9.5
Update review: First, I'm a pretty dedicated Keen wearer, and have three pairs already. My older pairs, a nearly 8 year old Whisper and the 5 year old Rose, are still going strong, but with so many miles on them that the soles are getting worn down and a bit slicker, so I decided to get some new Keens for a trip that will involved caving, tubing, snorkeling, hiking and more. I compared three new pairs to my older pairs. What I really wanted to know, and couldn't find, was a weight comparison, so hey, I did it for myself and am sharing it with others. Note that I wear a women's 9.5 shoe, so weight is based on that, and my foot is a normal width. I tried the Drift H2 closed toe sandal, the Zerraport 2, and the Newport H2., and compared them in weight and comfort to my older sandals (whisper and rose). Weights are for one shoe. These Newport H2 were my least favorite. I took them out of the box and immediately felt the weight, plus they looked giant (and they were--they didn't fit. Every pair of Keens I own is 9.5 but these were so big if I tried to size down, I might go to an 8.5. They also fit quite wide on my feet, more like crocs than keens. But the big thing was the weight: they were the heaviest of all the water sandals at 12.4 oz (351 grams) for one shoe! I felt like I was wearing (heavy) tires on my feet. No thanks! They are going right back. The tie dye color was fun though! I like the Drift H2 the best, and will likely keep them. These were the lightest, coming in at 233 grams (8.2 oz). They wear very much like my very old and battered Whisper sandal (though the whisper is heavier at 9.8 oz). They also fit like the Whisper, except that I find that the Drift has more of tongue than the Whisper which is not a bad thing: It was really easy to get these on and off and the tongue thing was flexible and felt comfortable. After putting these on, I didn't want to take them off! I haven't tried them in water yet--or in my cave adventure that involves swimming into the cave mouth, but I assume they will perform as well as the whisper did when it was new. And the rhubarb jam is a pinkish red that is very appealing in color. They may not be the most attractive, but they're basic Keen style and should be really functional. Zerraport 2: I liked the look of these best. I think they're kind of cute/ugly, with the big soles and the minimal strapping, and I also figured these might drain the easiest--water, or sand or whatever. I got the Rose black combo, which is fun and bright. These are described as "lightweight" though they are not as lightweight as some of the other models (but definitely lighter than the Newports). They weight 297 grams (10.4 oz) per sandal and while I could feel the slight difference in weight holding these in my hands, the difference in weight between these and the other styles is not huge, so if you're not going to have to swim in them, maybe the difference won't matter much to you. My husband thinks they are far uglier than the Drift, but I disagree: I like them. However, they are not nearly as comfortable as the Drift, and I'm not entirely sure they fit right: I wondered if I could go down to a 9 in them. They seem quite beefy to me, more like the Newport than the Drift, and my foot slides forward in them and hits the toe bumper. It may be that I just haven't adjusted them right yet, but my guess is that they are going to have to go back too, though I'm tempted to keep them for non-swimming activities. Still on the fence about these. I compared them to my old Keens. The Whisper (very old version!) I have is 278 gm (9.8 oz). These shoes have been wildly durable and felt great on my feet in all circumstances, though they are somewhat slow to dry. Great to hike in, and were quite steady on the trail til they got old. The Rose I wear mostly around town, even to work, and are great travel shoes that can be dressed up or down. They weight 242 g (8.55 oz) per shoe, and aren't quite as grippy, but they also are more everyday sandals to me, not trekking sandals. Super cute, and I get tons of compliments on them. I'll probably buy another pair when these finally give it up. I do wish Keen included weight everywhere and a comparison chart perhaps, as weight mattered quite a bit to me, as I travel only with a carryon. Also, I wanted to know if I was going to be putting anchors on my feet or something lighter for cave swimming. I'm sure I'm not the only person who wanted to know, so here you go! ... show more

  • Great once I got the right size
Color: Black/Black/Black Size: 10
Love these, but took three attempts to get the right fit. Wide feet and normally size 9-9.5. Based on previous purchases Amazon said to get size 10, Keen website said 9.5, but in the end it was size 9 that fit best. Very comfortable, stable and decent arch support.
