After six weeks of Pacific Northwest wet meadows and puddles, the Zionics are still dry inside! They do not use Goretex, but are made with Keen's special material. But even better, the foot bed is super comfortable and supportive. I added my own fav inserts, which was easy to do. I got a half size larger and it is perfect. The toe box is not as wide as I would have liked, but adequate. This shoe is the higher Zionic version with the ankle support and they are fantastic in my rutty, slippery wet meadow, or on the beach or going up and down 91 slimy railroad tie stairs on the steep hillside trail at Point No Point (yep, I counted them.) And they are lightweight, like a good running or walking shoe. My fancy goretex air hikers, from one of those famous shoe companies, started leaking after a year, so I took a chance on Keens. They certainly know a thing or two about water and shoes. I am so happy they got the foot bed right. Anyhow, try out the Zionics, either this version or the lower one. If you don't love the Zionics, just send 'em back - both Keen and Amazon stand behind these. Needless to say, I love them, and if they ever start leaking, I will modify this review for sure. ... show more

Straight out the box these feel broken in and ready to tackle any terrain. The insole is super bouncy, stable, and all around comfortable. Nice toe box, not too wide or narrow. Excellent arch support! I don’t need to use my Fulton Cork insoles in these!! Passed the waterproof test. Plenty of compliments. I could run ten miles in these. Super flexible sole. Good ankle support as well. It’s hard to impress me and KEEN made a customer for life! ... show more

super comfortable shoe, is not quite a wide as my other keens. also the stack of materials on the toe is not designed quite right, the soft foam layer sticks out and if you hiking in rocky terrain it will get broken down quickly. see attached picture, this is after one 5 mile hike. I really wanted to like this boot. other then wear condition and pinching my little toe after a few miles they are super comfortable, light weight, just what i was looking for in a day hike boot. ... show more

Great shoe. I wear these several days a week on hikes and for yard work. A major update from the previous Zionic. Better fit with a softer toe box. Better ankle support and much better sole with more durability. I would recommend an insert for the foot bed inside however. Very flat and zero arch support inside. Surprised that an almost 200 dollar shoe had such a pathetic insert. Shoe laces have started to fray after less than a month on the upper lace runs and the laces themselves are poor quality. Overall a really good hiking and possibly outdoor work shoe. Unfortunately there's some things to be expected at that price, like better laces and insert. Bought these for a trip to Yosemite. They are hands down the best hiking boots Ive ever bought. Light weight and they aren't kidding about waterproof. I have several missteps that plunged my foot into 4-5in deep water ans my feet stayed dry. The shoes were right out of the box and had no protectant on them. While they are waterproof they are shockingly lacking in stability and support. They feel like wearing Ugz slippers. The soles are not grippy at all. The cushioning in soft, like too soft. Squishy. If you enjoy hiking, even on flat ground, you still need a sturdy and comfortable boot. KEEN is my favorite. Tried em all, too. Ankle support, great fit, comfy during hours of hiking, breathable upper body. Plus they look cool.

They are pricey but worth it. Lite and comfortable for all day wear! I wear 10.5 and usually opt for a wide but these fit good without wide option. Quality product that looks good and feels good.
