  • For a $100 bass this thing kills
Color: Burlywood Color
The media could not be loaded. I’m not a beginner, I’m not necessarily a bassist either, but I’ve been playing various instruments for 20 years. I play guitar, banjo, cello, ocarina, and I record music as a hobby. I took this bass out of the box and tuned it up. I got lucky I didn’t even have to make any adjustments. No buzzy frets, no sharp fret ends. It sounds good and has both J bass and P bass style pickups. The only minor complaint I have is the neck is just a little catchy but I am just going to rub it with a drywall sponge to smooth out roughness and oil it with some lemon oil. For the money you came beat it. It’s low end ibanez quality and the hardware even looks good. Tuners respond well without any slack in them. I fully expected to want to replace hardware on this when it got here but it’s great ... show more

  • Hard to believe I have a functioning bass for this price

I'm not a great bass player, but I'm not exactly a beginner either. The bass I've been playing for the longest time is a hand-me-down from my mom, who gave up playing bass in a band when she went into academia. That old pro-level bass is worth too much money to risk traveling with it, and I travel a lot. So this Kcelarec bass, it didn't come perfectly ready-to-play, I had to do a bit of setup work to lower the action. Out of the box, it would have worked just fine for a student or a guitarist relegated to playing a simple bass line in first position, but if you go up the neck you'll get a lot of unintentional slapping sounds from the string height, and some buzzing from having to press so hard on the strings. But I cured that with a bit of bridge adjustment, didn't even have to touch the truss rod. In under ten minutes, I had a tuned, decently-setup and very playable bass. I don't even know how they could make it for that price, how they turn a profit off this thing is beyond me. It's just a cheap practice instrument, but when I use the word "cheap," I'm referring to price and not quality. ... show more
