Last year we purchased a Singing Machine brand karaoke machine from Sams Club for our children (boy-9 and girl-10) for Christmas and were severely disappointed in the product being unable to ever get music to play unless we paid for their online subscription. We returned it but got relentless begging from our children again this past Christmas. I was on a mission to find a Karaoke machine that played discs rather than have to deal with downloading and having a device to attach which makes things too complicated for the young ones (and hey I like having my cell phone with me not them). Well the Karaoke USA GF845 Complete Karaoke System delivered beyond our expectations. The discs I got from Amazon played flawlessly (I highly recommend the Kids Karaoke disc - so many great songs). The kids LOVED the two microphones to sing with each other and/or with a friend. We got the 10 pack of Handheld Stage Microphone Windscreen Foam Covers to go with it and they loved those too really adding to the festive look and fun. Paying the extra for the flashing lights was also well worth it as it adds the the entertainment value and makes it a wow experience for everyone! I completely recommend this product without reservation. It was worth paying more to have a reliable machine the kids can operate without having me have to help set it up.

Great karaoke unit, with some features beyond what I expected for a home karaoke system. Ability to use a large SD card to hold a large library of MP3+G content and record your performances is a nice touch, but isn't as user-friendly as I would have liked. This is the main drawback I saw during my use, otherwise it worked great when using CD+G discs. If you use the SD card, you will want to be sure to shorten the filenames to a short code (e.g., "FS1002.mp3" and the related lyrics file "FS1002.cdg") and use an external lookup reference of some kind, otherwise you will have some trouble figuring out which file to select as you scroll through the list of files. Switches on the microphones are a somewhat unexpected and nice feature. Included disc is acceptable as a starter kit with familiar folk, children's and holiday songs, but you will definitely want to purchase other tracks better suited to your tastes. If your karaoke needs are more public performance-minded rather than home use-minded (i.e., you're truly a budding professional karaoke DJ), you would be much better off shopping for software (and a laptop computer) to store the music, coordinate the karaoke tracks with artist and full name, your performer's names, and the order in which they will play and appear. System also plays DVDs but not Blu-Ray discs, potentially a bonus if you need to present a DVD, but does not have HDMI outputs, so you're limited to composite output, which may not match well with many of the most recent flat-screen TVs and projectors. This same limitation applies when you want to display the lyrics on a large screen. If a concern, you will need to purchase an adapter to convert output to an HDMI signal. However, if you're looking for a useable home system to practice for karaoke night at the bar, or to feature at a small party at your home, or just to have fun singing karaoke songs at home, this may be a very good system for you.

The Karaoke USA GF845 Complete Karaoke System falls just short of being a perfect karaoke machine for at-home use. First, the good; the single speaker sounds good, the machine does has a "pitch key" available for moving the song up or down in key, and that is handy for picky karaoke singers; The microphone, although not the quality that you will find at karaoke bars, are still very good quality; The machine also has a reverb (an echo) knob, which does add a lot of quality to the sound of the singer's voice, if used properly. The screen is perfect size and works just as it should. The bad; you will most certainly need to purchase an additional speaker. The sound of the music is quite good, however, the system does not get very loud at all. Yes. I used to be a professional KJ (A karaoke DJ), and I was in no way expecting that sound quality here however, you should have the ability to turn the microphones up very loud when you have a "quiet" singer, and unfortunately, this system just will not turn up to high levels at all; you can easily hook up to an alternate source to get new karaoke songs using a bluetooth device, however, you will have to look at that device to get the words, as they do not stream to the screen on the machine. The screen will only display words on karaoke cds. The CDs that comes with it. Yes, it comes with 300 songs that are "fun for the entire family." Although I'm not sure the family is gonna like these songs. Ahhh yes, I can see it now. Kid "Okay, it is my turn to sing the Alphabet song." Kid2 "Not before I sing Bringing in the Sheaves and the National Anthem." Kid3 "I'M sining Bicycle Made for Two and Happy Birthday before y'all touch that microphone. So, it most likely will cause fights amongst kids who have never been allowed to listen to any music that is Public Domain. The microphone cords are fairly short, probably 5 feet or so and the same for the power cord. Those are minor things though that can very easily be fixed if you need to add more cable. If you like singing real music that people actually listen to, and like singing, you will either need to plan to attach this machine to the internet to get songs, or purchase more karaoke cds to get more enjoyment. Overall it is great for what it is, and my complaints really are minor, but unless you are needing a big show quality machine, this is probably just what you are looking for.

My 12 year old daughter loves this..both microphones work great..if you're looking for a professional quality machine, this is not it...but for a home system just to mess around and have a good time with family and friends, it's perfect...the lights r fun, the volume and the screen is fine. I must say that the songs that came with the machine are pretty lame...my daughter said there were nursery rhymes and songs in Spanish (which we don't speak)..but I had ordered a tween hits karaoke set and they work perfect and the words show up on the screen...
