I've purchased other armors that were kinda plasticy/rubber type material (which honestly was fine) HOWEVER for about the same pricing (since you get the shoulders and tassets/faulds (skirt like armor) and the fact that this is really leather. I was surprised by the quality of this given the cost. For the amount of materials and time it would take me to replicate something like this, the value is amazing. The armor itself is composed of two different kinds of leather. The inner leather is thinner and more flexible and looks a lot like real leather. The description says faux leather but I can't tell if it's real or not. The exterior leather that make up the small pads is thicker and more rubber like. It definitely gives the impression of something that could protect you from slashing (not so much against piercing). The seams (see photo) are well stitched and from the visible residue on the inside, look like they're also glued. The rivets aren't glued on the outside, they're real rivets, actually punched through. The buckle hardware feels a little cheap, but it works OK. The armor is several distinct pieces so there's lot of adjustability. If you're going to be wearing some type of thick padding underneath like a gambeson, then you might consider sizing up. Otherwise, I would say you want your normal size. The armor has some weight to it, but it's quite comfortable to wear and definitely makes you feel powerful wearing it. As for durability, the flexible leather that's holding it all together seems pretty strong. It looks really good. ... show more

Fabulous and a little ridiculous (in the best way). This comes as a lot of separate pieces, which is great for fit. The pieces are all completely separate and are buckled together, which gives a lot of flexibility. The detailing looks great up close and the piece looks super expensive and of the period.
