    • Pretty versatile but needs a shaker top
This is an interesting spice mix that I have been finding to be fairly versatile but I would not call it spicy, at least not if you were using it to replace the traditional red flake spice packets pizza places offer you. The contents of this paper cannister are all fairly large flake spices which may explain part of why they did not provide some kind of shaker cap, an oversight in my opinion as it makes it a bit less easy to use and you could get too much product out trying to shake it out of the provided container. The container is also paper which I can see getting soggy and messy from peoples hands so replacing it with a glass or metal shaker bottle might be a good idea. So far I have tried this on pizza, pasta, and ramen and found it to add some good flavor to all of these, the ramen was maybe a skip it next time. I only used this as a topping I did not cook with it so cannot comment on that function. That spiciness I mentioned previously, it exists, and it even lingers for a few minutes, but the heat level is pretty mild. This is a good sized cannister and I think it works well for a multitude of things so I feel like the value is pretty in line with what spices go for now days. ... show more

This is tasty! We basically replace our usual red pepper flakes with it for finishing pizzas. It adds gourmet savory herbal notes and a modest amount of heat. I really enjoy the little bursts of Italian herbs in each bite. It's also great for other Italian and Greek dishes - just one final sprinkle before serving to add color and flavor. I do wish it had a shaker lid though. I guess you're supposed to pinch it with your fingers and "make it rain", all chef-like. Not a big deal either way. ... show more

I like this pizza seasoning, which has a little kick from the red peppers and tastes fresher than some of the Italian/pizza seasonings I’ve gotten from big name companies before. It even looks brighter and fresher than some of the pizza seasonings I’ve tried in the past. The small container is short and squat and makes it easy to scoop out the seasoning. I think this has a more complex blend of spices than other pizza blends I’ve seen: leeks are in this, also chives, and green peppercorns instead of black peppercorns. This is a pretty unique blend for pizza seasoning and I think it helps make it more flavorful than others. I really like this pizza seasoning from Just Spices and I would try some of their other blends based on my experience with this one. This goes great with anything where you want an Italian-inspired flavor burst. It's a high quality blend that's a good value. ... show more

This is a pretty solid blend if you want to add some extra flavor to pizza, pasta, or anything Italian-ish. It's not super spicy, so don’t expect it to replace red pepper flakes. But, it’s got a nice balance of herbs, garlic, and a bit of warmth from chili and paprika. The aroma hits as soon as you open the lid, which is a good sign. I tried it on takeout pizza and also on eggs, and it worked great both times. The container is a little awkward, though. No shaker top, so you’ll probably want to transfer it to a jar or poke holes in the foil seal. Also, the paper label gets greasy fast if you use it while eating. Flavor-wise, it leans more toward savory herbs than heat. It’s a nice upgrade from plain oregano or pepper flakes but not something I’d use every time. Worth trying if you’re into Italian seasonings and want something that covers more bases. ... show more

Pretty nice and well sealed container. It's got foil seal that locks in freshness until you break the seal. When you do, you'll get a nice whiff of the great mix of herbs and spices, which are: GARLIC*, CHILI PEPPERS*, PAPRIKA, RED ONION*, OREGANO, GREEN PEPPERCORNS, RED BELL PEPPERS*, TOMATO*, CHIVES, MARJORAM, LEEK*. *DRIED. Most people will see those ingredients and realize that they can be added to a lot of savory dishes, especially Italian dishes, and they would complement the dishes quite nicely. For me, I truly wanted this "Just Spices" "Spicy Pizza Topping" for pizza - but it's just not spicy enough. I usually add red pepper flakes, and that's significantly more spicy than this. However, it does taste good, and as I mentioned, it'll go very nicely on a variety of other dishes. ... show more

I have a large family who loves pizza. When we order it, it often comes with one or two seasoning packets. Unfortunately that isn't enough as it is usually gone before the pizza is. I thought that this Spicy Pizza Topping would be a good solution for that. The spices were well-sealed. When opening, they were aromatic. They were fresh. There wasn't any moisture or clumping. Because I don't want everyone's fingers into the spices, I transferred them from the original container into a shaker jar. This worked very well. Now, I put the spices on the counter when the pizza arrives, and everyone can just shake some as they want. It works well on reheated leftover pizza, too. The flavors are good. I think that they are balanced. The flavors come through well especially if the pizza is really hot. I think that helps release the oils within the spices. Overall, my family likes it. As far as value I think that depends on the size of the family using it. For us, we'll go through this fairly quickly as we are a very large family. For an average family, it will last longer. I'd say the value is good to very good. ... show more
