Travel using three pieces of July luggage and three sets of their packing cubes. Use the carry on Essential 20", a checked Plus Expandable 28.75", and this charcoal color, checked Expandable 24.5". Have found all July luggage products to be well designed, durable, built nicely, attractive, and while not inexpensive, to be good overall values. July's spinner wheels are amongst the very best I've ever used, making the portability excellent. They roll smoothly on every surface. Handle works well with no wobble. All it's features and construction is first-rate. Nicely finished without unnecessary design flourishes. It holds a large amount, and has proved to be durable even through some rough treatment. Highly recommended.

Love the color of this bag, and the interior has straps on BOTH sides, a must for me. I’m a little disappointed that the paint on the corner guards got scratched the first time I checked the bag. I thought they would have been maybe powdercoated for toughness, but no. Other than that disappointment, so far it’s traveled on 4 checked trips and held up well.

I finally had the opportunity to use this bag on a recent trip. It quite simply exceeded all my expectations. Here are some of the nice things I'll say - Size. It held 2 people x 4 days of heavy winter clothing - Strength: The hard shell does a great job of protecting contents - Appearance: The shell held up very well against scratches and scuffs. It did need a good wipe down after the flight because the grainy surface, while hiding scratches, attracts dirt - Usefulness: the rollers are incredibly smooth and pivort effortlessly. This thing just glides. Best I've ever used. The handle is easily adjusted for comfort. - Weight: It's much lighter than our old large suitcase, allowing for an extra couple of pounds on clothing - The zippers are equally smooth, and part of the TSA lock - The included instructions made setting the lock code very easy. Overall this luggage was incredibly easy to use. It will be my go-to non-carry on for every trip moving forward. Lastly, I would go for one of the non-black cases because so many other cases are black. I like that it comes in a variety of color choices.

Experienced travelers and those who hope to become so will appreciate the attention to detail that clearly went into the design of this suitcase. I recently purchased a 28 inch, and while it's great for long trips, it's a bit unwieldy. A 24 inch case like this one is the ideal size when a carry-on isn't enough, but you still want to keep luggage to a minimum. Function. I no longer consider a TSA lock "optional." When traveling in the U.S.A., it's a crucial component, so the built in lock is excellent. And it's easy to follow the directions they include for setting a personal combination. The "compression" feature is a mixed bag. The idea is sound, but the pad itself uses space. If it can compress enough, you can still end up with more room, but some things cannot (or SHOULD not) be squashed like that. One of the benefits of hard cases is more protection for contents. Consult your own preferences, not everyone will find an added value. The expansion is supposed to add 10 liters of space (that's approximately 0.35 cubic feet or 2.6 gallons). It doesn't look like much. Sturdy and smooth rolling spinner wheels, some of the best I've seen. A handle with 20 height adjustments! Impressive. The carrying handles on top and the side have a good grip. I wish there was some sort of handle or grip on the bottom. I need to grab the wheel to lift and lay it flat open. The interior pockets, lining etc are well done. The zippers are smooth, except the main zipper can be a little hard at the corners of its not lined up. Style. This says "serious traveler" with a sleek design. Elevated by subtle lines in the molded polycarbonate - not unnecessarily flashy, but not plain - classy. Business or leisure, it works. I'm looking forward to using this for my next trip. Description says fits overhead - I don't know a single airline that will let something this size through as a carry on. Definitely a checked item.
