TAKE OUT YOUR SD CARD BEFORE TAKING THE OEM BACKPLATE OFF!!! If you leave it in you will snap it in half and in will be stuck in the slot. As for this backplate, it is easy to install and I found the fit perfect. I like the translucent plastic a lot. The heating gets hot under heavy load, enough to be painful if it comes into contact with skin. I didn't do a before or after temp test but the heatsink certainly doesn't hurt, if nothing else it should allow a bit longer boost frequency initially while the heatsink absorbs the heat increase. ... show more

The design of the case blocks the internal airflow so the thermal pad gets very hot and the steam decks fan ramps up occasionally. Although this case cover replacement makes it run cooler than OEM, I’ve seen some reviews of people joking about cooking bacon on the thermal pad from being so hot. They weren’t kidding lol this thing gets toasty. In the companies defense, it’s out of the way of your direct hand placement but it’s close enough to touch it occasionally. What I’ve found is if you put the case on and play a game session or two and let the thermal pad take the shape of the air chamber, you can take the cover off and trace cut an L-shape in the thermal pad to unblock the air flow. One end of the L-shape facing the fan and one facing the exhaust. I forget what YouTuber posted this little trick but I tried it and I can confirm the thermal pad and Steam Deck runs even cooler. Now the thermal pad doesn’t burn my hand if I were to touch it by accident and the fan doesn’t ramp up as high anymore! Great little mod. ... show more

This wasn’t hard to install, looks nice, and any improvement to thermals/reduction in fan noise is appreciated, but the thermal pad does adhere to the Deck and now I’m not totally sure how to take the the thing off if I want to further mod or repair my Deck in the future? I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it I guess, but overall I like it. ... show more

This is great, color is super cool and the heat spreader does a way better job than I was expecting. I only bought it for the color so I was pleasantly surprised when I realized the fan doesn’t run nearly as loud as it had with the original back plate and when it does it’s not for very long. It does get pretty hot on the back like it says somewhere on this page but I don’t think you could accidentally burn yourself with it. I’m able to hold my finger to it for several seconds before it gets too hot. I definitely recommend this ... show more

This is a great way to customize your steam deck and is very easy to install. Took less than five minutes to swap out the back cover and rear trigger buttons. 3 different sets of buttons to choose from are included. One thing to note is the rear heat pad gets extremely hot to the point where it will burn you if you touch it for more than a few seconds. ... show more

I love the color first off. I also have the clear rgb version as well. I just like to change things up. I had to get a replacement for this one because the screws came stripped and wouldn't allow me to change the back buttons. With the replacement, the screws that were in it were a tad to big for the included screw driver. I just use one that was slightly bigger and problem solved. As for the thermals, I have noticed about a 5 degree drop over all. Still a tad warmer than the vented rgb version but better than the stock back plate. Just be careful with the aluminum on the back because it gets very hot depending on what game you're playing. ... show more

It's just aa replica of the stock backplate with it being clear, and having an extra thermal mass built into the plastic. It comes with thermal pads to transfer heat away from the chips to Keeps the temperatures down. You don't wanna touch that black thermal mass, because it becomes uncomfortably warm under heavy loads. ... show more
