They came in a box a little smaller than a deck of cards & as hard pcs of dry almost cork-like material each about 1/16" x aprox size of a playing card. Get it wet and POP...PUFF a nice sponge immediately appears. Keeps its new shape & texture & doesn't become dry & hard like it came and works as good or better than any other basic sponge. I decided to order these because I have been unable to find plain sponges in any of the grocery stores I shop infor the last several months. They work very well plus I am able to change them more often. The problem I encountered was when I use the blue or pink one the color comes out.

I don't have to worry about scratching my glasses or dishes when washing them. The variety of colors is great so I can assign different colors to different tasks without getting confused.
