Good value! Construction quality is nice. Mostly made out of metal. Sturdy base that sits flat. Clear screen, great magnification with multiple levels. Buttons on the screen are nice. I use this to help evaluate trading cards for grading. You can take images and store on a SD but havent tried it. Lights are bright and with the controller you can adjust the brightness. Only down side is when you plug it in and turn it on the lights turn on automatically and I havent found a way to shut the lights off without turning the screen off. Other than that though. I really like this! It's not perfect but for the price it has performed very well. The image is pretty high quality and I can get good detail even on very small PCB parts. There are a lot of small issues though - if you have a large PCB (such as a PC motherboard, for example) it will be impossible to view certain spots due to the fixed mount of the scope. Also weirdly when using my grinding pen I get a nasty rolling shutter effect and can't see the tip of the grinding pen to see where I'm grinding! It looks all wobbly! So yeah, it's a good scope for some hobbyist work but I would not say it's a good replacement for higher - end equipment. ... show more

Pleasantly surprised by the quality, more than adequate for electronics. Base plate is metal though I wouldn't try very high temps to be safe with the coating. A fire brick or tile can make it more heat resistant but the camera body itself is plastic so be cautious of rising heat. Your needs may vary. ... show more

Simple, cheap, good optical quality. Great for kids too young or not interested in preparing slides for a compound optical microscope (we have one of those too). My 5-yr old owns it. She sets it up, operates all the controls, and looks at things she finds around the house like the fur she cuts off her stuffed rabbit, her own hair, snails she catches in the pond, and insects running around in the yard. She always keeps a petri dish handy in case a spider or tufted millipede shows up. Every creature on this planet is beautiful and has a right to exist. She must return all living specimens to the outdoors where they will probably die anyway but it's the ethic that counts - right? ... show more
