This was sold as 925 pure Italian silver. The chain has now turned and faded into metal and dark colored. NOT silver, MAYBE, SILVER coated at best. Very unhappy and left feeling scammed and like a cheap skate for gifting this chain.

It's a pretty necklace so far, having had it one day. I'll see if it turns black like some other reviewers have experienced. BUT under a magnifying glass I can read ITALY however NO number 925 which signifies sterling. I would like to disagree with at least one reviewer who said "sterling silver never turns black". Baloney - it gets tarnished and the tarnish can be black. That's why we have to polish sterling silver. I'll update if mine turns black. This is a really nice sterling silver rope chain. I got the 24 inch length and it is perfect for the pendant I am using. The chain is substantial without being weighty. It isn’t too thin nor too thick. I would rate it at a medium. It looks strong enough to hold a heavy pendant but a dainty pendant would look good on it too. It is 925 sterling silver which I believe is the standard. Nothing about it being nickel or lead free listed. The chain has a lobster claw clasp which to me always means a better chain. It certainly makes it easier to put on and take off. The chain is shiny and looks really good with my pendant. I liked this rope chain so much I bought another one in a 26 inch length. I’ve been wearing it every day and only take it off to shower and so far no turning or any problems. ... show more

Beautiful chain—BUT— mine is coming apart. I have only recently begun wearing this chain that I had purchased this summer because I did not have a medal to wear on it until recently. I had noticed that the chain was rough on my clothing. When I went to polish it today, the “rough” spot revealed itself: the chain is coming apart! I am super disappointed and am afraid to wear it now because I do not want to lose my medal. I bought this chain because it looked sturdy and I wanted to protect myself from losing my new medal.
