  • Good for Heavier Work
I have three oscillating tools: a 12v Milwaukee cordless, a 20v DeWalt cordless, and this one. The Milwaukee is easiest to manage, but it’s useless for all but the lightest jobs, and I wouldn’t buy it again. The DeWalt — like most of their stuff — is a nice tool. For most jobs, like making flush cuts in molding, it’s great. But for heavier work, you really need the power of a corded motor. My last corded oscillating tool was a Rockwell Sonicrafter X2 (which I would not buy again). The Sonicrafter had good power, but also has a design flaw — a chip on the circuit board that breaks looks from its solder joints and causes intermittent operation. And the circuit board is covered in epoxy, so it’s pretty much impossible to repair. There are YouTube videos about this, if you’re interested. Anyway, I bought this Jorgenson tool to replace the Rockwell. What I use it for is heavier jobs where the DeWalt takes too long, like making flush cuts in pressure-treated decking. The Jorgenson will do in a minute or two what takes much longer with the DeWalt. As other reviewers have noted, it does get hot — but if you’re doing work like this, you should be wearing gloves anyway. I haven’t used it for anything other than cutting, and probably won’t. But the blade change mechanism works well, and the supplied soft case, while not super luxurious, keeps everything in order. Overall, I think it’s good value, especially with the coupon. One other note … I started out using the blade marked as being for metal or wood, since I figured that I would need to cut off some nails. The blade wore down after a half dozen nails and I replaced it with an aftermarket titanium blade. So I wouldn’t bother with the blades that are supplied with the tool. ... show more

  • Will handle many jobs
Great tool. I have used it to cut through epoxy holding pieces of wood together. I used it with a carbide blade to cut 8 1/4 inch bolts down to length. The tool has a lot of power and never got hot. Really good price compared to the other brands. It is corded so no battery, charger or added weight.

  • Works Great!
Sure, this is not a major name brand, but it is heavy and appears to be made to last. I have used it only a couple of times and have never used another brand, so I may not be the best reviewer, but it cut through the wood siding I had to notch like a 'hot knife through butter"! In addition to its beefy feel, it has speed adjustment, comes in a perfect carrying bag, and includes several attachments which allow you to use the tool immediately. The only thing to not like might be the orange color - haha! I enjoyed using this tool and hope you will, also. ... show more

  • Great value, but the compatible with all blades story is kinda not true.
I've owned a Fein for 20 or 30 years, basically since they came out - $400 way back then. But, lately I've been longing for the quick blade change and non-slip features of the newer blade holders. It seemed like the blade on the old Fein always came loose no matter how hard I cranked on that Allen screw. Jorgensen is a good company and this one had good specs at low price, so I ordered it for a project. And, I ordered a bunch of blades from cheap Chinese manufacturers, Fein, Bosch and DeWalt. And, there's the bad part, the Fein and Bosch blades did not fit straight out of the package. The holes in them were too small for the central shaft of this tool. But, I loved the solid feel of the tool and everything else about it seemed good. So, I went to the shop and used a Dremel to grind out the holes on blades that didn't fit - took maybe 30 seconds per blade. Now they all fit and I can live with this small issue. Yes, the thing is loud, but I've owned the Fein for a long time and THAT's loud. Seems normal to me. Yes, the 5 degree stroke is larger than other similar tools but with the soft start it seems fine, I think it cuts better with the longer stoke. Though it does vibrate in my hand somewhat more than the old Fein did. Yes, it's heavy - that doesn't always equal 'sturdy' or 'well built' but, I think it's a good thing in this case. And, yes, it's corded. But, I felt that a battery one would either not last long or, with a big battery, would be heavy and unwieldy. This one is the size and weight of my old Fein and I got decades of good use out of that one. I don't find myself grabbing this thing for a quick cut, some jobs are long and corded is the way to go. And, I don't use it so often that pulling a cord when I do is going to break me. On today's project, I'd already pulled a cord for the shop vac. ... show more

  • Good, solid tool
Solid, noisy but bearable with ear muffs which should be worn anyway with noisy tools. It gets the job done. Simple to use, different speeds, and corded for use around the home.

  • A Must Buy
I purchased this tool for a close quarter project in my kitchen, This tool worked better than expected and cut through 1/2-inch cabinetry like a hot knife through butter. Very maneuverable in tight spaces. Every DIY'er needs one of these in their tool chest.
