This is a beautiful tablecloth. It's thick and heavyweight, and the details and stitching are well-made. I wouldn't eat on top of it if you have smaller kids or messy eaters. Large food particles can easily be sweepd off but smaller particles might be stuck in between the crevices. It claims to be waterproof but any liquid drippings just gets absorbed by the linen. I tested it with water drops from steam and it just went right into the linen. I even accidentally spilled some fish sauce on it and that left stains on it.
