The instructions that came with this and all I can find on the web talk about programming the remotes. It shows a diagram that has an LED and a button to hold to program the remotes. The installation was rather straight forward. The short black wire just goes on the negative post on unit itself. Not sure why they didn't do that internally. If the unit ever fails, jump starting or shorting between terminals will not work. There are no replacement's for key fobs. If fobs or unit ever fails, it will need to be completely remove. My daughter's car has a phantom load that is intermittent and drains the battery after a couple days. So now she can just disconnect the battery and be assured that the car will start when she want's to drive it. The key fob works great. My only critique is the negative wire is too short, I had to splice more onto it to connect it to a ground. All the other hardware was good and made installation quick and easy. ... show more

This is pretty great. My 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan with only 78000 miles was giving me trouble. It suddenly developed a small battery drain, and every couple of days when I needed to drive it, the battery would need to be jumped or even fully recharged. Installing this remote activated contraption lets me avoid tackling the actual problem of figuring out where the drain is happening, and made it so that I don't get tons of weird looks when I have to pop my hood and fiddle with the battery cable every time I want to turn the car on or off! Just press a button and go! I also appreciate the length of the provided cabling, because I needed to fabricate a bracket to attach the device, since the hood of the van is too close to the battery for it to sit on top. 5 stars from me! ... show more
