My son was a year when he received this. He quickly learned how to use the remote control. Product is study and had held up to almost a year of abuse from a toddler! Dropping, throwing, you know the deal! Still works like it did the first day he played with it! Only bizarre thing about it is that sometimes it moves without anyone even touching the RC.     • Controls are overly simplistic but acceptable. Very short range.

This is fine as a toddler toy, but not much older. It is cute as pictured, and functions well enough although the range is limited to just a few feet so you have to stay with it. The biggest con is that you can only go forward *or* turn. It will not do both at the same time. I believe it has just one forward motor that will switch between driving one rear wheel to turn or both rear wheels to go forward. There is also no reverse. So you have to spin in circles until you get the direction you want to go, and then drive forward, then repeat. The lower rating is solely for that lack of control.
