I got the transparent wine model, and I would say it is very red wine in color, even having some woody notes in the dark, haha. Choose this for yourself or a pen lover that likes their barrels and grips, BEEFY! The widest part of the barrel is 16.5mm! The narrowest part of the section is 13mm, but the part of the grip you’ll probably land on is ~14mm. The nib is likely a Bock or at least it appears as one of their designs. It is attractive, two-tone, with Jinhao and their logo, and a standard Bock-style “drape” engraving, and on mine, an M for medium. The nib is very smooth across paper. If you’re used to pushing your pen, you might have to ease up and let this one guide you a bit. Enhance your zen. The cap is a screw on. I haven’t tested how airtight it is yet. It is a 2 twist, a good flick of the wrist and you can unscrew this quickly. Much better than something with more than 3 twists. And also not so easy to loosen that you will worry about it in your pocket, as a 1. Speaking of pockets, this pen is perfect for winter, because its clip has a nice box interface with the cap, which can accommodate 2.5 mm of fabric, such as a winter suit coat. Much better than any other Jinhao pen I have. This is a fantastic value for such a satisfying writer. Super smooth with just enough feedback for good control. The ink capacity is great with an upgraded and well constructed cartridge converter. The transparent versions reveal your ink supply. The nib performs flawlessly. Works well with inexpensive papers and is superb on Tomoe River. I'm using with the lubricated Iroshizuku Kon-peki ink. What you might not like is that the barrel is quite large although a medium sized hand can handle the pen easily. The nib is stiff with no flex. Potential problems might lie in the quality of the plastic body. But for this price you cannot beat the performance. It is so good I bought a second one. I hope Jinhao continues with more offerings of this calibre. ... show more

This is a big pen. If you have small hands this one may not be for you. It is a nice writer and pretty smooth as well. The other nice thing about this pen is that it comes with a larger than normal cartridge converter with more ink capacity. And if you don't like the size of the nib you purchased with it, you can also change it. The one downside, you can only go up to a medium size nib as there are no broad or stub nibs available for it. ... show more

Wonderful colored acrylic and massive ink capacity. The pen is almost the same dimensions as my MB149 but no where near as expensive. The nib is buttery smooth and runs closer to western style nibs. The converter is proprietary and it threads into the feed so no chance of it popping loose. Very impressed. ... show more

nib size is stamped <F> fine , but compared to other 9019s this one is definitely a broad. not a problem , ordered three so now i've got Fine, medium and Broad. all nibs came tight and needed adjustment.
