  • 6th grader approved
The fact that I can’t buy these in bulk is my only disappointment. I have 25 flute students who climbed over one another to borrow one of only six. I love these because they provide support to the right hand as a student learns how to balance the flute the right way. This takes off the pressure on the hand. This is definitely junior high level approved ... show more

  • Comfortable and does not scratch silver
I like these ergonomic aids, but I had the one that scratch up the flute like BoPep or Thumbport. This one is both comfortable and doesn't damage my flute.

  • It works well
There are several of them when arrived. I was really excited to get these cushions knowing that they are soft and likely won't scratch up my flute. I can use the cushions for both right thumb and left finger balance. I was able to get a better balance with these cushions. Get a proper circular postures arch for my short right fingers. However they fall down way too easily. Not sure how to secure them so they fall down or move so much. I am still trying to figure out. It eventually became a huge distraction to make sure they don't move. If people managed to figure a way to secure them, would love to hear advice. Update from 3 stars to 4 stars: After a few more weeks of using these thumbports, I finally figured out why they kept falling off. I have two flutes, one is Prima Sankyo Artist series and the other is Muramatsu Platinum clad series with a slightly smaller diameter to compensate for the heaviness of the platinum. The thumbports fall off regularly from my Muramatsu flute and not off of my Sankyo flute. So, these work pretty well on most of the standard diameter flutes. ... show more

  • Surprisingly great
I'm a mature flutist with rheumatoid arthritis AND small hands. These made a big difference for me in placement of my hands and provide a good deal of relief. It takes some experimentation to find where you can benefit from using them. You also must be careful not to get them too close to the key mechanism, but otherwise they're great. They stay on my Yamaha YFL-581 very well. I'm using them as a left hand rest and a thumb support. ... show more

  • Excellent! Relief & Non Scratching
The media could not be loaded. I am so happy to have stumbled upon this thumb rest! It's inexpensive. Soft silicone. Comfortable. Easy to adjust to your hands' form. Does not scratch the flute. Mine is solid silver (whole flute). Washes easily. Just take care not to place in the way of keys or other levers as that will cause incomplete closures (leaks). I like that they do stay on. I have not experienced them falling while playing, nor on my flute stand. It needs to be removed to put the flute back into its case. Flute cases without extra storage compartments outside the hard case will not have space to keep these thumb rests inside without damaging your flute. My flute case has a zippered cover around the hard case. And they do fit between the hard case and the fabric case without issue. They do get lint on them rather easily. I would check there is no lint on the inside of the gadget that touches your flute. The lint was from testing it in my hard case (so the blue fuzzy lining sheds). My case is decades old style. I do recommend these to my students. It relieves pain at the joints, and improves hand position. Not everyone will need these. And some may only want to use the upper hand thumb rest. It's great that you can install as you like. ... show more

  • Super comfortable, adds stability, could be "tighter"?
I am an older player who has picked up flute again after many years. These little grippy silicon "pads" slip right on my flute without damaging it, and really help me with stability. The ONLY complaint I have is that they can move around (of course, only because I still have too much tension when I play - but then again, I think many new players do!) If I am not careful, it can slide up and hit some of the mechanism, making notes fail. I did buy a "brand name" that doesn't move, but it is not nearly as comfortable! With these little gems, I can play TWICE AS LONG with much less pain. Totally worth it for me!!! ... show more

  • Surprised at this high quality product
I've played flute for over 25 years and have always struggled with pain in my left hand. I've been through PT, worn many different braces and tried so many different gadgets on my flute to help. These silicone supports are much better than I was anticipating. Placement must be just so to avoid blocking any keys, but once in place, it doesn't slide and provides nice cushioning and stability for the left hand. Can also be used for the right hand thumb if necessary, or as a teach aid for young students! I highly recommend these as you also don't have to worry about scratching or leftover residue when using these! ... show more

  • Too large for young students
This product was a bit too bulky for beginner students.
