This is a great package to convert an old hard tail to a 1X10 setup. The derailleur is nice I put it next to an extra M8000 11 speed I have on my workbench and it has most of the same basic technology. Everything you need is included except the front cog (dependent on your crank) and the wolf tooth goatlink 11 which I think is mentioned in other reviews. I had one in hand but used a RISK link I got here on Amazon and it works great. Definitely a good way to get more life out of an older frame for a low budget. I would highly recommend some blue loc tite on the bolt between the derailleur hanger and whatever link you use. It needs to stay in place and not move in order to work by installing it you create a long lever with 2 pivot point. This is not complicated but does require some basic bike know how. Good project for first timers who are not in a hurry.

Components in the group are all quality and I would highly recommend with a few notes, while I would not install for advanced downhill or racing, if you are an intermediate mountain bike rider, gravel or trail rider this is a very good quality and cost effective way to go for a 1x conversion if you currently have a 3x8 or 3x 9. You do however need some garage bike mechanic experience or at least be mechanical and watch some YouTube videos (Park tool recommended) to install any drive train successfully. Additionally the group includes the Deore 6000 SGS rear derailleur, if you look this up on Shimano's website it states it only supports up to 36T cogs and that is accurate, there is a drop extender included but that is not the intended use with this derailleur, you must purchase and CORRECTLY install the Wolf Tooth Goatlink 11 (not the Goatlink 10), this product is specificity designed to extend any Shimano SGS derailleur geometry to support up to a 46T cog and very importantly it allows the correct adjustment of the "B" screw with no stress. With this kit and the Goatlink 11 (and a narrow-wide chain ring) I was successful in converting a 3x9 Trek Dualsport to a very dependable, quieter and lighter gravel/trail bike.

First I tried this with my XTR GS Derailleur with the 22mm link and had shifting issues in the smallest cogs, (8 thru10). I would have to shift from 8 to 10 then back to 9 if that's where I wanted to be. Contacted Sunrace and they recommended to use the Shimano Deore RD M6000 GS derailleur which is designed for the wider ratio cassettes. Replaced the XTR GS with their recommendation and no more issues at all. Perfect shifting in all cogs and without the 22mm link. I'm running a Race Face 36T Cinch chain ring so this cassette gives me good climbing and a good top end speed when chasing down the young whipper snappers I ride with, heh. Sweet!

I have recieved the cassette and spacer part and installed on my bike. I have a 1x10 setup using an SRAM GX 10 speed rear derailleur. The spacer is needed to make this work. I have not been able to get the rear derailleur adjusted so that it shifts all gears smoothly. It seems like either the top half is good and the bottom half is chunky or the opposite. It seems like the rear derailleur is too far away from the high gear cogs (11 tooth) after adjusting b tension to clear the 46 tooth. If cable tension is adusted tongive smooth shifting in the lowest 3-4 gears, it won’t always upshift to the 11 tooth on one push of the upshift button. I believe an 11 speed derailleur designed around a wider cassette ratio would cure this. I do strongly like having the lower gear this cassette enables over a 11-42 so I will stick with it.

Bought the 46t black cassette along with a new set of cranks and a raceface 30t narrow wide to make an upgrade to my wifes’ new bike right out of the box. The Pique had a Shimano HG500 42t cassette and a front derailleur for a 2x drivetrain. Removed the old cranks/chain rings and cassette ... installed the new 1x drivetrain as described with NO ADJUSTMENTS NEEDED, not even the rear derailleur hanger extension was needed due to a monster sized stock hanger. If I needed a hanger extension it would have been a goat link because the one with that comes with the cassette seems lesser than Goat link. My wife loves it. It works great.

I converted an older 3X8 Cannondale mtb to an e-bike, and in the process had to also convert to a 1X drivetrain. I was worried that with a 1X8 I didn't have enough gearing to still go riding in the hills, and safely get myself home if power were to fail out in the hills. This cluster combined with a proper 11 speed derailleur is a terrific upgrade! I am very comfortable with a 46/36 combo to get me out of trouble, and the two extra rings give me most all the ratios I had in the 3X8. If you have en existing mtb you really like, and your only complaint is that you wish it had just one derraileur to worry about, this cassette will breathe new life into your trusty ride. I think it is TOTALLY worth the investment! Jose
