Are you tired of being disappointed buying junk, inferior products, cheap imports? If you really want a polisher/buffer made in America that will last and is built with quality, look no further. I understand $400 is more for some people than others, I get it. But if you want quality and something you can use for years, this polisher is very nice for the money. Love the digital readout and control. It's smooth and very powerful; it didn't bog or overheat while polishing solid brass for hours. When I first started doing polishing work, I tried using a 3/4 horse grinder motor... problem is, they typically spin waaaaay too fast, and there isn't a way to put a motor controller on them that isn't almost as expensive as this unit. With this, you get amazing control of just how fast it's spinning, down to 900 rpm. I still need to do a lot of hand work because there are some situations no polisher will work for, but when I can use one...this is it. Would give six stars if I could. Plenty of power even on 110V, total control, great build quality. It's not cheap, but in this case I think you do get what you pay for. I wish I would have started with this instead of trying to make other motors work...would have been cheaper in the long run. ... show more

I’m still not sure I really needed a $400 buffer, but I’m happy to have it. This thing is amazing. It weighs a lot which makes it very stable when it’s spinning. It’s super quiet..amazingly quiet. I turned to do something else for a few seconds only to realize the buffer was still running. I was 5’ away and didn’t know it was still on! The variable power settings are a real plus. If you’re on the fence, and can afford it, just do it. You won’t regret it. I sure don’t. Now I need to find more stuff to buff. It does come with two 8” wheels. The picture shows a 6” wheel I moved from a bench grinder. Definitely not a Jet problem. A quality product period. ... show more

I did a bit of research before buying this buffer. It shuts down Everytime it's being used after 5min. Contacted Jet, they replaced the buffer. It's doing the same thing shutting down. I don't recommend buying this item . Couldn't even get my money back, almost 700.00 dollars and have a buffer that's unusable. ... show more

I bought two IBG units roughly 1 year ago. One was the buffer and one the disc/belt sander. I like the overall function of the buffer, sander is a different story but for another review. First thing everyone should know is that these units will not work on a GFCI protected circuit. The GFCI will blow every time it is shut down, I believe it's the breaking resistor which I find odd because I had other VFD driven motors with breaking resistors that did not blow the GFCI. I ended up having to replace the outlets with non-protected circuits which fixed that issue. The other thing is both units have blown the VFD drive within 1 year. The buffer went first after several months, now the sander just did the same thing. From the sound of it (loud pop) the capacitors in the VFD are arcing and shorting out. Unfortunately I built heavy custom stands for both of them, but am still considering replacing them with a good old toggle switch motor head. My advice is don't buy these. ... show more

I waited to review this buffer until I’d used it on a couple projects. This jet buffer IGB-8VAB is fantastic! Very impressive it can easily be speed up or down while in motion. And has gobs of power never leaves you wishing for more. It’s very quiet no hearing protection necessary, a plus to me. O an extremely smooth running at any speed.
