An on/off rotary switch on the base will activate the LED halo lighting around the perimeter of the mirror when you need it. LED bulbs are lined around the mirror to distribute light evenly. I bought and returned several Lighted Wall Mount mirror both online and in retail stores. The magnifications either was not right for me or mostly the light was not bright enough for me. I the light is not any bright the what is already in my bathroom it is not doing me any good. My husband talked me into trying this one as one last try. I absolutely love it. We went with the Jerdon brand, because we saw it at our hotel in Las Vegas and my wife loved it so much that she called the hotel to find out who made it. The build quality and functionality are very good. The arm joints do not have any play. The lighting is bright enough to use without additional room lighting and the 8x magnification is strong enough to see every flaw, while leaving enough workable space between the mirror and face. While I originally wasn't happy that it had a clear cord, I'm glad it did because isn't so obvious as one in white or black. The only minor issue I have is that the mirror doesn't fold completely flat against the wall as shown in one of the included pictures. The mirror ships with Molly bolts to mount to drywall, but I rarely have luck with them, so I used plastic wall anchors. Overall, a great value. ... show more

I am absolutely in Love with this Mirror. This is my 5th Mirror. Not from this company but from Amazon. Refunds went smoothly that’s why I continued to search for more. It has everything on my checklist. Bright enough light to see X8 magnification is more than anyone needs to see upclose, unless you’re planning on doing surgery on yourself Good looking and very well made Mirror size is plenty large enough to see everything you need. The product did last even three years in a residential environment with daily use. Within two years it developed a loose connection in the pivot point where the mirror and arm connect resulting in having to place the mirror in specific positions for the light to work. I ordered this mirror, because I had another magnifying mirror by the same manufacturer, and liked it a lot. This one turned out to be a total disappointment. The magnification doesn't seem sufficient, the light is barely visible on my face, and, on top of this, the construction of the frame doesn't allow the arm to fit flat on the base when folded, as the other mirrors of similar design do. ... show more

I bought this as a birthday gift for my wife. She saw one at her aunt's house and had wanted one for a long time. After doing some research and narrowing down my options considering the options she wanted (she can switch between regular on one side and magnified on the other, has a light, and can be plugged in/isn't hard-wired or battery-operated), I decided on the Jerdon. As far as my opinion of it, I think it's great. Of course, my review comes down to 4 things: 1. Shipping: Was well-packaged, arrived on time, and included all parts. 2. Price: $80 seems reasonable. 3. Ease of installation: Took 5 minutes, and all parts were included. 4. Appearance: Looks fine in our bathroom and doesn't get in my way. However, the most important part of the review is whether the wife liked it, and she really does. She says it's one of her favorite gifts she's gotten, and she uses it every day. She says it makes getting ready in the morning much easier, and also says that it's nicer than the unit she saw at her aunt's. Happy wife, happy life, so 5 stars. ... show more

For something mounted to the wall, the cord is very long and a pretty big eye sore. Overall the mirror is fine the light is good and the mirror is clear, but we returned it as the cord hanging there all the time would have been annoying. Worked well until just after the one year warranty expired. Now the light only comes on if you spin the mirror to just the right position, and that’s usually pointing straight up. It doesn’t look to be user serviceable. I expected longer life from this expensive a mirror.
